This is the story of two families brought together by hard times.
First, there was Harold and Isaac. Harold was 36 years old, and he worked as an auto mechanic for a large car dealership. He had a good job, but he was always working long hours. He was married to Sally, and they had a child, a son named Isaac.
When Isaac was just sixteen years old, his mother Sally became very sick and she remained in the hospital for months. Finally, she died after a long battle with breast cancer, leaving behind Harold and Isaac.
In the meantime, Harold’s brother Kyle had just gone through a nasty divorce with his wife. They didn’t have any children, but Kyle asked to move in with Harold and Isaac just to help with the bills.
Lastly, Isaac’s best friend, Julian, went through his own tragedy as both his parents died in a small plane crash. Julian was also sixteen, just like Isaac, and both boys were going to the same high school and they took the same classes. Isaac had pleaded with his father to let Julian stay with them.
The household of four men was going through tough times as the foursome sat around the dinner table to discuss the situation. Harold was the only person who had a full-time job while Isaac and Julian were still in school. Kyle was still looking for work but he had to resort to doing odd jobs like cutting grass and mowing lawns, so he started his own landscaping business. Money was tight and the four men were barely making ends meet.
That night, Harold saw an ad in the digital version of the local newspaper on his iPad and he responded to the ad. He liked to read the newspaper on his iPad when he went to the gym, and he spotted something that got his attention.
“Guys, I think I have found something online. There is this company called Fusion Technologies which will award ten-thousand dollars to two people who wish to volunteer and offer their bodies for a fusion experiment at a local lab in here in town!” he said.
“What’s a fusion experiment?” Julian asked.
“A fusion means, two people show up and they become fused together into one human being. Two bodies get combined together into one new human being who will have the traits and personalities of the original donors.” Harold explained, reading the ad.
“Say, what? You mean, we could join together and become one person?” Isaac wondered out loud.
Both Isaac and Julian were athletic at school. Isaac played soccer and Julian was on the wrestling team, but he didn’t mind cheering for Isaac whenever he was playing a game.
“This is the solution to all our problems! I can fuse with Uncle Kyle, and you two guys can fuse together into one big teenage boy!” Harold grinned. “That will get us twenty-thousand Dollars!”
Julian and Isaac just glanced at each other.
“Whoa!”
Harold took his cell phone and called the number on the ad. The secretary answered, and he asked her some basic questions. The boys would have to undergo a thorough physical examination followed by several blood tests before they could get hooked up into the machine before the fusion could take place. The whole operation would only take a few hours.
“Let’s do it! Who’s gonna go first?” Uncle Kyle asked.
