After the bucks have had their turn, it was time for the does to have their pageant. (Bucks and does are the terms for male and female rabbits.) In some ways, the males had it a little easier. Those who didn't need a particular kind of clothing to perform their talent were given fairly standard suits to wear. But with women, dresses can come in a wider variety of styles. It was probably just as well that the boys went first because the ladies took a little extra time to get ready; picking the right dress, doing up their hair, adjusting their makeup. At least they didn't have to worry about shoes.
Of course, the pageant wasn't going to be decided merely by physical beauty. The Animalian virus remakes both humans and animals into a closer ideal of human beauty. Of course, female rabbit Animalians don't typically get taller or more muscular than the average woman, with the occasional exception like Hunni Bunni. Of course, some of these does may be more endowed than the others, like Jessica with her E-cup breasts. But with each rabbit a beauty in her own right, the main factor for who progresses to the finals are the talents they showcased.
Like with the men, there were a large variety of talents being performed. It wasn't a surprise for one of the three Shikamatsu ladies to be performing martial arts. In this case, it was Mrs. Shikamatsu. In her case, she had a few rows of lit candles set up around her on small tables. She performed several kicks, chops, and palm strikes, each movement blowing out at least one candle just from the moving air. After a minute, all the candles had been snuffed without Mrs. Shikamatsu touching them or the tables. Michiko also demonstrated her considerable agility and physical training, though through the use of acrobatics. It was a bit of a challenge for her in that she had a more generous figure than a professional gymnast would. But she was no less graceful or balanced. Yumi's talent was more modest in that she presented her origami art. It might not sound impressive, but it can be difficult folding the paper just right to produce the desired shape. And Yumi demonstrated some more complex origami designs, like cranes that can peck or flap their wings or frogs that can hop.
And there were other talents besides those from the Far East. For instance, Eloise was able to play 'Frere Jacques' using a set of bells, Shyra sang a soulful lounge song, and Hunni Bunni demonstrated her above-average strength by axe-kicking a block of ice into pieces. Jessica had been a highly-anticipated act as many wondered what the former Animalia Ambassadoria reporter would show off. Jessica surprised some people by doing some standup comedy. Though her friends weren't surprised since Jessica was known as a joker, other people found unexpected amusement in her jokes. She got a few good laughs out of her jokes, which were appropriately rabbit-themed. Some of her jokes included these gems:
Two rabbits are running from a group of foxes. They hide in a pile of hay. One rabbit says to the other one, “Ok we can run for it or we can stay here and outnumber them."
And the other rabbit says, “We're going to run for it, you idiot. I'm your brother."
A lady opened her refrigerator and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the shelves, “What are you doing in there?” she asked.
The rabbit replied, “This is a Westinghouse, isn’t it?”
The lady confirmed, “Yes.”
“Well,” the rabbit said, “I m westing.”
When it was Morgan's turn, everyone was wondering what she could possibly be doing. The only talent she seemed to possess was getting herself into trouble. And why would she need to wear a leotard for this. Once Morgan was out on the center of the stage, she bent over. Then she raised one leg up higher and higher until she was practically touching her back. Placing one hand on the stage, she was able to extend her leg forward until she was scratching the back of her head with her foot. Then she put her foot back on the stage before twisting her hips so she was able to look at the audience from under her own waist.
"I had no idea Mom was that flexible," muttered Philip to Lars in the audience.
"Yes, she's naturally double-jointed and she was into yoga long before it became popular," said Lars, "She showed off quite a bit in the bedroom."
"Ok, you can stop telling me right there," said Philip.
Morgan may not be a complete contortionist, but she demonstrated quite a lot of flexibility, especially for a woman whose curves were enhanced by conversion. Of course, having her youthful energy restored was probably also a big factor.
And after the pageant was over, it was time to tally up the scores to determine who will be advancing to the finals and the race up Zodiac Mountain. Only contestants who did well in all three events were guaranteed a spot in the finals. Those who fell short on one event would have to make up extra with the other two to secure a spot in the finals. In any case, the best rabbits will head on to the final challenge where the best of the best will be crowned Mister and Miss Year of the Rabbit.
