So when the Countess's carriage returned to the Muscat household that evening there was one extra on board. Against Patricia's wishes Penelope wanted to sit with Chelsea and Betsy in the servants seats at the rear of the carriage rather than inside with Simon, Patricia, Jasmine and the infants.
There was confusion with names. Penelope insisted on calling Jasper "Lady Jasmine" as that would be her title once she was wed. Jasper had not yet told the girl that she had no intention of going through with the marriage.
To Patricia, Penelope was most definitely still Lady Penelope, daughter of a Duke and in the extended Royal family. The fact that Lady Penelope was so eager to become Jasmine's servant also confirmed in Patricia's mind that Jasmine indeed was a princess in disguise. She also started calling Jasper "Lady Jasmine"
There was a third Lady in the household as well as since Brook had now been acknowledged as the Countess's granddaughter, she was raised to the ranks of nobility and was officially "Lady Brook of the Lake"
Simon just wanted to call the two females by the name they wanted to be called, Jasmine and Penelope respectively. It came to a head when Patricia suggested 'We should allow the two ladies our bedroom. It doesn't seem right for nobilty to sleep in the nusery.
Simon snapped ' The two Ladies are my servant and a servant of my servant. While they remain in our household I am the Master and you are the Mistress. I will not have it any other way!'
It was rare for Simon to lose his temper, indeed it was the first time Jasper had seem Simon snap. She also did not want to move into the main bedroom. 'Master Simon, until I have fulfilled my obligations to you I wish to remain in the nursery with the children. Chelsea has been talking of setting up a room for herself in the attic. She and Penelope are of age and seem to be getting on very well. I suggest there is plenty of room for two beds.
'As usual you talk sense Jasmine. That is an excellent idea. I will have Damon start clearing the space in the morning'
