Jasper returned to the Muscat household to not only find 5 hungry infants but also a group of orphans carrying beds up to the attic. The boys were being supervised by Patricia and the Matron. 'Look Lady Jasmine, our new beds are arrived' Patricia told Jasper
'Lady Jasmine? You wear the clothes of a Lady?' Said the surprised Matron who Jasper noticed was cuddling Lady Brook.
'It's a long story, but Jasmine has just returned from a stroll with her beau. When she weds she will be raised to the nobility' explained Patricia. 'Her beloved insists that she wear clothes befitting her soon to be status. And I agree with him, though Jasmines wardrobe is limited to two.. I have always thought Jasmine had noble bearing'
'That she does. Congratulations my dear. I wish you a happy marriage and many more children of your own. When is the big day?'
'We have not set a date' Jasper was worried about what Richard had recently told her. She had expected the wedding to not be held until they were at Featherstone. Now Richard was hinting it might be sooner.
'I have an idea. Did I tell you that along with the beds we were gifted clothes from the Duke? Well some of them are ladies gowns and we have no use for such frivolities at the orphanage. I was but going to let the girls use them as dress-ups. Would Lady Jasmine like some of the prettier gowns? They would need modifications but young Molly is a competent seamstress'
'Why that is a wonderful idea!' Patricia answered for Jasmine 'Don't you think so Jasmine?'
'Um, Yes, thank-you for your offer Matron, but I am in debt. I have no money to pay for gowns. As you say they are frivolous'
'They would be a gift Jasmine. By looking after the orphans you are doing the orphanage a huge favour. Consider the gowns as payment for your services. We can't have your beau disappointed. Come around at your leisure and take your choice'
