Life had not been kind to 21 year old Rebecca following her parents’ passing. First her mother 10 years ago in a hit and run. Then her father 4 years ago from some unknown illness that started hitting him 2 years after his remarriage to Rebecca’s stepmother...
...who by this point thanks to some legal loophole or something had squandered away Rebecca’s share of her father’s life insurance and what he willed to her on vain displays she called ‘child support’ like fancy jewellery and high-fashion dresses. None of which were really for Rebecca and that was not including said stepmother’s addiction to needless surgeries to counterbalance her harder addictions alongside ageing...
...and at the end of it all by the time she was a legal adult Rebecca without a proper chance at higher education (Though she certainly had the natural IQ for it) was empty of both proper funds and proper employment opportunities to the point she was hating her life but not enough to end it.
So it took her by surprise when on her way into an information centre to the local mega-shopping complex looking for helping finding the address of the store holding the equipment the current charge of the home-care nurse Rebecca was temping under she instead found herself within this massive store.
And by massive it was like Rebecca had walked into a store equivalent of the Tardis from that Doctor Who show. Just with greater open space and filled with rows and floors of outfits, some of which looked to be complete body outfits with various seemingly having a skin texture that if not for the deflection Rebecca could had assumed was real.
“Ah my dear. Now what called the store’s doors to you?” Goodwill suddenly asked as he appeared, his early middle-aged appearance and modern attire easily hiding his real age. “Called the doors?” Rebecca questioned back. “You must have noticed the sudden shift in reality I wager?” Goodwill suggested. “Like walking into a small, 10 foot by 15 foot information centre looking for a type of shop I have never been to in my life” Rebecca admitted while still bewildered by what happened. “Yes. Exactly” Goodwill accepted happily.
“So what are you looking for Rebecca?” Goodwill then asked. “How do you know my name?” Rebecca returned curiously. “Call it part of the magical nature of this inter-dimensional store” Goodwill answered “Here besides traversing between different realities we also give visitors skinsuits to become part of the chosen reality”. “And that worlds how?” Rebecca inquired. “Whatever skinsuit you wear you’ll physically become that being” Goodwill started “Say for example you wear this” pulls out a skinsuit of a blue-skinned male elf “You’ll be as far as DNA sequence scientists says, besides mind and memories, a male snow elf. Or maybe this” pulls out a green-scaled humanoid Dragon skinsuit “same case bar you instead being a Dragonoid with all expected abilities plus depending on soul some rare extras”.
“You...can really do all that? And if so how much do you charge?” Rebecca responded in disbelief. “Oh our branches of choices are massive. Why we do humans, animals, anthros, mythlogical... heck even aliens and robots more in line with Sci-Fi worlds” Goodwill insisted “As for the costs... that is something needed to go over in special detail if you are to try us out” then puts on a joyful smile “That said if the store responded to you I’d say it’s something we can work out alongside it possibly involving the alternative reality your chosen skinsuit relates to”.
This really got Rebecca interested and naturally she had an idea in mind but had to ask first “Well my idea is Mythological-based but no exactly giving up my identity besides mind and memories” she started. “Do tell” Goodwill responded. “As in keeping my current head-” Rebecca started. “Ah I get you. Be a mythological version of your current self as in if you chose Centauride but only applying the horse part but all you for the human” Goodwill interrupted in wonder “Very rare request but one we can do. Plus we can if needed apply specialized changes that are the equivalent to implants or tummy-tucks to the human parts”. “Which I had in mind” Rebecca admitted:
