Nate knew he had to go around and test this remote on more stuff. Nate looked to his tail which he was getting better at controlling and then hit the inanimate button on his pants, and suddenly his pants were fixed... Not in his tail being crushed inside a repaired pair of pants, but having a pair of pants that were designed with a tail in mind. Smiling he left to take a walk to maybe get some inspiration and then saw his next door neighbor's garage open.
Josh the 18 year old senior was polishing his electric bike... and Nate kind of hated that thing. Sure they both had their licenses, but Nate never got to use his parent's car... Josh didn't either, but he'd gloat about his electric bike and how he would be getting more exercise... have more freedom than someone just on their two legs... and be more green than potentially even electric cars... It wasn't even a car, and Nate would've argued it was less romantic! And sure it was harder to bring his date to nice meals on it... at the same time he did get a passenger accessory, and took his date out to a nice ride on a forest trail... and in this reality Nate remembered Josh saying "I'd let you try it, but I'm pretty sure your tail would get hurt on the rear wheel." He was right, but that felt a lot like some sorta racialish discrimination.
Nate didn't know if it was correct, but he hit two buttons and his Dude of a neighbor shrunk into a small girl with a cute pink shirt, and jeans with a small wrench in her hands... She was busy on her slightly less than pristine child sized electric bike with training wheels on them. There were a lot of safeties put on the device that could be removed when Jane got older. Stuff that would let her make the thing run faster, and not on four wheels. The enterprising little girl whose parents would give her an electric bike instead of a tricycle was too busy to notice her occasional babysitter walk up to her and ask "What are you doing?"
Jane shrieked and said "Well Umm... Proving I'm grown up enough to ride a bike without training wheels!"
"By showing you can dismantle it?"
"Hey! Apparently engineers do these things all the time! If I'm engineer enough to take them off I wont need them!"
"Jane what are you doing?!?!?!" An irate mother came out and saw what her daughter was doing.
"Proving she didn't need training wheels apparently?" Nate tried explaining.
"Jane, but what if you break something or get yourself hurt?"
"I'm a big girl mommy! The other older girls can ride without training wheels!"
"But what if you get into a crash? That thing goes faster than most of their bikes!"
Nate said "It'll be harder for her to crash at faster speeds though... Physics right?" That earned Nate a glare which was somewhat deserved. Nate himself had to admire Jane looking at the bike and how it all fit together at a young age... She had actually identified where the training wheels were attached and had started taking them off properly.
The mother sighed and asked "Nate, please look after her for a sec. I need to go talk to her father..." Thus Nate was alone with a little girl in trouble for messing with a vehicle.
