Everyone around Nathan were busy working. Headset on, typing away, eyes glued to the screen. He thought about joining in, doing the job he was hired for, but where would that end? Him, just like everyone else here. Hoping for a promotion, stuck on this floor, doing the same work for the rest of his life. Maybe doing what Veronica wants wouldn't be that bad, he just needs to work out how to get to the higher floors. Coffee might help, as would meeting new people. He looks over to the closest desk and asks.
"Hey uh, where's the break room?"
A bored looking woman points to the opposite corner of the floor.
"There. Janitor will be cleaning it."
Nathan awkwardly gives a thumbs up, then goes to that corner. Past the cubicles and offices, and through a smooth door to the mentioned break room. Couches circling the far back, bench to the left of the door with everything one would need. Microwave, sandwich presser, coffee machine. He moves over and sees another guy tidying up the sink, there's a bucket and mop near his legs, and his shirts wet and stained. Guess that's the janitor,=.
"Hey, uh, how's the cleaning?"
What a way to start the conversation. Nathan gulps as the worker straightens up and reveals himself. Buzz cut brown hair, chin covered in stubble, and face in a heavy scowl. He's a giant, over 6 ft tall with a broad and burly build. Heavy fuzz over the back of his arms, and poking out of the top of his shirt. He looks fit and strong, probably a regular gym goer.
"U-uh sorry."
"Sorry? Hah, you daft? What're you sorry for?"
The man speaks with a clear British west country accident, probably moved here from overseas. His hand wiping against his pants, then put out for a handshake. Nathan stares at it for a bit, then swiftly accepts it. He uses as much power as he can, which is barely anything compared to this brawny figures grip.
"Names Travis, I'm the new cleaner. Hope you've heard of me."
"Uh, No I haven't. Only just started here and- Nathan, by the way. So that'd probably be why I hadn't heard of you."
"Don't need to explain yourself. We're both new here."
"Yeah, right. So. You're already cleaning up the place?"
Nathan eyes the mans gear. Looks like he has already cleaned most of tables and has moved onto the sink. Travis eying it as well, shrugging his shoulders then looking back to Nathan. Scrunching his nose for a bit, taking a sniff of the air, then shrugging again.
"Started at 8. Been given this floor for the day."
"Huh, well, you've done a lot for your first day. I was gonna make some coffee, you want some?"
"Coffee ain't for me, but I could do with a bit of a break. Especially with a cutie like yourself."
Nathan's eyes widen, was this guy hitting on him? Considering everything that's happened, he doesn't think it's normal. Maybe the spray affects people too, though Travis seems pretty in control. He's- a new starter. Oh no, he's going to freak if he sees monsters running around. Spiking the bosses coffee made things better, so maybe that'll work here to.
"Okay well take a seat then. At the back, just gotta get my drink first and we can chat."
Travis sniffs the air again, moving his head closer to the top of Nathans shirt as he does so. Nathan feeling something hard grinding against his left leg, which causes a heat to build in his own groin.
"Looking forward to our 'chat', love."
Travis lets out another laugh, sitting at the back couch as Nathan carefully opens the suitcase. Travis being into him is a good thing, but Travis being a human that might cause problems is a bad thing. He needs a way out of this, and something quickly comes to mind. It's just a matter of what colour he will use.
