It was another usual day for High School principal Doug Savage, but that would soon change all because of a small coin found in the bottom of an old box.
Doug was going about his normal day when the school librarian called him to the library.
“How can I help you Ms. Page?”
“You told me not to throw anything out without allowing you to check the box first, so here this box is your problem now,” she said thrusting a dusty box into Doug’s arms.
Doug was 57, but Ms. Page was still his elder and in fact once was his librarian in school. For a woman in her 80s she sure had the same edge.
“Now you know that was only because you ended up throwing away the only copy of the schools original first yearbook and historic photos. But I’ll happily take this box of junk off your hands.”
Doug took the box back to his office and set it in the shelf in the corner before going about the rest of his normal routine. At the end of the day, Doug returned to his office and realized he should go through the box before the spring break or he’d have to take care of it first thing when he returned.
As he went through the box he noticed it was mostly old books missing pages but there was one odd item that caught his eye. A small coin box.
“What are you little guy?” He asked himself as he opened the box to reveal a shiny gold coin with a unique insignia unlike anything he had seen before.”
“Coin of wishes” what could that mean, Doug thought. He took the coin out of the box but dropped it allowing it to roll under his desk. Doug got down on all four to crawl under the desk to get the coin, but when he stood up he felt his age as his back popped.
“Ugh, I wish I were younger.”
Suddenly the coin glowed in his hand as his wish was about to be granted
