Benjamin Franks, called Benji by his friends was not looking forward to his new high-school's policy. He had thought he had lucked out when his middle school had announced they would be converting to an all boy's school. His little sister Jenny wasn't happy about becoming Johnny, but he wasn't effected at all.
Now however, he would be turned into a girl, and Johnny was excited to find out that he will be back to Jenny after two years. It seemed the school didn't care what you were originally they would put you through a swap as soon as you entered the school.
Benji sat in his home room where everyone was expected to read the summer paper they were required to write. The prompt asked them to write about what they were excited to experience after being gendered swapped as well as announce their new name.
Currently a girl he had a crush in named Olivia was reading her paper. Benji couldn't helped but feel depressed looking at her. Soon she would be someone else, and since the school didn't arrange for students to be returned to normal after they graduated, she would possibly be gone for ever.
Benji tuned in at the end of her paper. "Another thing I'm excited about is that guys get to ask the girls out. I've been interested in a boy, and he hasn't picked up on the hints. After today I will get a chance to ask HER out. Thank you for listening, from Olivia. Soon to be Oliver."
The class clapped politely. Benji wished he could be the guy she was interested in. The teacher stood up. "Thank you Olivia, and great use of pronouns at the end. Now, for our last reader before we take a trip to the gym where they have set up swap chambers. Benjamin Franks?"
Benji went to the of the room and read his paper. "I'm Benjamin Franks, but call me Benji. I'm not really looking forward to being a girl. A lot of girls seemed obsessed with cloths and I can't blame them. Their fashion seems confusing and you have to be obsessed to be good at it. There seems like a lot of problems they have to deal with that guys don't. I'm really nervous about my friends who go to other schools treating me differently and some of my neighbors making fun of me. A lot of them go to schools without gender policies or are all boy schools. But this is the school my parents say I have to go to and I guess I have to go through with it. After we go through the chambers I'll be Beatrice Franks, but call me Trixie."
Again there was some applause. The teacher responded. "Thank you Benji, and it's okay to be apprehensive. Apart of the inversion program is so we can have greater understanding of each other and understand the benefits of being the opposite sex. Even if you don't see it yet, you will soon. I do want to congradulate you on your insite of how girls have different issues. Now, let's all head to the gym."
Everyone went to the gym. The walls were lined up with chambers that had students from various classes lined up. On one side of the room girls wearing boys clothes left the chambers while a boy replaced them. On the other side boys wearing girls clothes exited while girls entered.
Benji quickly found himself in line on his side. Sooner than he would like he entered the chamber. It was black, and sleek. When it closed behind him he was bathed in a deep blue light.
Benji's body felt tingly as the light faded becoming brighter, and soon became pink. The shade continued to darken to a hot pink, and Benji noticed hair tickling her neck. She was shocked to realize how she perceived herself had already changed.
The door opened and Trixie was the next girl in boys clothes to leave the chamber. Her black hair was past her shoulders and her jeans and shirt were baggy now that she was shorter. While they were largely bigger, she could feel some distinct areas were tighter. She went to a mirror to see the new her. Trixie was cute. Now she just had to learn to live as herself.
