Christian decided to stick with the shoes, he seriously needed a new pair and the shopkeeper and store were making him uneasy. He walked through the shelves of shoes and noticed how many different styles Mike had on offer. It was a lot for a small store. The strange thing was that each style seemed to be unique and only had a single size on offer. Even stranger was that some of them appeared to be used and worn, while others looked new.
"I guess the shopkeeper wasn't lying about some of these pairs being hand-me-downs," Christian thought, wondering for a moment if Mike's story about many of the pairs being former people the store turned into shoes was true too, "No way. Impossible. This place is weird, but people don't turn into shoes and shoes don't turn people into different people."
Christian took a closer look at some of the pairs on display and noticed labels on the shelves below each of them. "Cocky cowboy? Surfer stud? Great, the shopkeeper is so weird that he's gone and named all the shoes. I really need to just something to wear and get out of here." H
Christian rummaged through the dozens and dozens of shoes, hoping to find some in a size 9. Only a few shoes seemed to fit the bill. Christian's frustration built, but then he felt something in the back of his mind. It was a strange, subtle feeling that he should wear whatever he wanted no matter the fit. Little did he know it was the store's unusual power compelling him to stay and wear anything.
Mike watched out of the corner of his eye from a distance as he noticed average, 30 year old Christian go from frustrated with the small number of new shoes in his size to contently browsing both the old, worn pairs as well as the ones that didn't come close to fitting him.
The more Christian looked at the shoes the more he wanted to try many of them. Then, he reached for a pair, "These ones. I've gotta try these on."
