Still stunned by her transformation, Nancy studied herself critically as she gazed at her office. "Why are their holes in my jeans?"
"I think it's the style," Doug shrugged.
"Why would someone cut holes in expensive looking jeans," Nancy asked in exasperation. Frowning the teenage girl now turned to Doug, punching him in the arm. "This is your fault! Why am I 16?"
"Ow," Doug whined, rubbing the sore spot on his arm. "I didn't make this wish. You did!" Nancy raised an eyebrow, casting the teen a doubting look. "Okay maybe I wished I knew what you were like when you were younger but you were the one that said Sixteen."
Nancy sighed deeply, examining her office. The room remained unchanged, which puzzled the girl. As she was about to say something the pair noticed a ripple now spread throughout the area. Nancy gasping as things began to change.
The orderliness of her desk shifted, becoming a bit messy for Nancy's taste. Grabbing her golden nameplate, Nancy's eyes went wide as the name began to blur. The teenage girls jaw dropping as her name was replaced with a new one. "Jack Edwards," she exclaimed. "The Vice Principal is the Principal now!"
Doug shrugged, still unsure of what to make in this latest change. When he had been Principal, he remembered Mr. Edward's. The 40 year old man was an excellent teacher and quite ambitious in furthering his career. Now that he and Nancy had been reduced to students, it appeared he had finally achieved his career goal.
"Mr. Savage. Miss Page."
Nancy and Doug turned, watching in stunned silence as Mr. Edward's entered his office. Jack was in decent shape for a middle aged man. A fit body with ebony hair with a distinguished grey around his temples. Doug and Nancy's memories forming around their new Principal. Some of his students considered him attractive for an older man, while many a female teacher crashed on him. Jack now offered the pair a warm smile as he made his way around his desk.
"As I was saying Mr. Savage your guardians wished for me to deliver that message," he stated. Doug simply nodded, realizing reality had altered so that Mr. Edward's had now delivered Nancy's massage instead. "As for you Miss Page I received a message from your parents as well."
"My...my parents," she stammered.
"Yes Nancy," Jack said. "Your parents called to inform me they would be away on business for the week. While I am concerned about a girl your age being home alone they assured me you would be quite alright." Nancy was stunned, memories of her new parents now flooding her mind.
She was an only child, her parents a bit older than others. As a result they had instilled quite a bit of responsibility into the teen. Nancy was what teachers referred to as an old soul, the irony of that statement not lost on her. It also meant that Nancy was a stellar student with numerous school activities. The teen was involved in several clubs from honor society to the school paper. The teen may have been beloved by staff but it didn't exactly make her popular amongst her peers. A fact Nancy recalled as memories of being summoned to the principals office due to fears of her being bullied.
"Is everything okay Nancy," Jack asked. "Sarah and the other cheerleaders haven't been bothering you again have they?"
"Um no..no sir," Nancy stammered.
"Okay then," Jack stated. "Doug can you please make sure Nancy gets back to Sophmore English?"
"Sure no problem," Doug said quickly, taking Nancy by the arm as the pair now left the office. As soon as they were clear, Nancy stopped as she stared wide eyed at Doug. "Sophmore English," she gasped. "I'm a freaking Sophmore!"
"Well 16 year olds are usually Sophomores," Doug shrugged. "At least you'll be an upperclassmen next year."
"Not helping," she grumbled. "And why do I have to be a Sophmore while you're a Junior. That seems unfair, you should be 16 too!"
"I don't want to get any younger," Doug moaned.
"Well I didn't want to be 16," Nancy countered. "If I have to be 16 than so should you."
"If I'm 16 then you should be 15," Doug countered. "Why do we have to be the same age? Why can't you be the younger one?" Nancy sputtered, crossing her arms as she glared at Doug. "So what do we do now," she asked. Doug shrugged, the teens now looking down at the golden coin clutched in his hand.
