“This is a beautiful day for a family beach trip.” Said a young woman in her early 20’s as she held a cell phone up to catch herself and her girlfriend in the camera view. Another women in her early twenties waved back at the camera. She snapped a selfie as the two of them stopped for a moment as they carried some stuff down from the car.
Zoey was a twenty-two-year-old student from Brazil studying abroad in her university, her long silky-smooth black hair with dark olive skin and a body to make men turn. The problem was Zoey was lesbian and so she would rather date, someone like Lily.
Lily had long blonde hair, blue green eyes and a body to match, any straight guy seeing both of them together wouldn’t know which one he would like to sleep with more. Then when he learned that they where a lesbian couple, he would want them both.
“Will you put that thing away and enjoy the beach.” Said an older woman with blonde hair with more then a few greys in it, still for a women in her 50s she looks good.
“Mom, we will but we need to have photos” stated Lily, like everyone else in their mid-20s they lived on social media.
“I think I see Luke and his family; they must have beaten us.” announced an older man, he had become rounder with age but underneath the fat was the muscles that could only come from years of hard work in the construction field.
“Lets go say hello.” Said Lily as she and Zoey placed down their stuff besides what Lily recognized as her big brother’s stuff and headed down the beach toward where they could see Luke, Chloe and Nathan all standing by a group of rocks.
“Lets try to sneak up on them.” Offered Zoey with a playful grin as she pulled out her phone to record it as well.
“You do it in slow motion, I’ll get regular.” Said Lily as both of them held out their phones as they headed toward the young family on the beach who still had their backs to them.
Then with a clap, everything seamed to stand still.
The camera caught it in high speed, Luke, Chloe and Nathan falling to the ground, their legs fusing together, as their bodies began to change. Then as the scale colors came in before finally finishing up.
To the regular eye and to the cell phone camera recording it looked as if the three of them was running superfast, it was clear what was changing but it was impossible to focus on any one detail.
“What the fuck!” yelled Lily as she ran over to her brother, sister-in-law and nephew. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing, lying in the sand where all three of them now merpeople and there was one other, being held tight to Chloe’s chest was a little baby she didn’t know and it had a fish tail as well.
“Lily…” said Luke in a state of near shock.
“What happened?” inquired Zoey as she got to the other side.
“We found this baby and then…” said Chloe in shock as her mother-in-law and father-in-law also ran up having dropped their stuff as well.
“My God…how is this possible?” inquired her mother-in-law Molly
"We found this baby, crying and then it clapped and now...." repeated Chloe as her mother-in-law got down beside her.
"Don't worry everything will be ok." stated Molly
“We need to call 9/11.” Said her father-in-law James as Lily stopped recording and prepared to dial 9/11.
