Settling into their teenage reality

added by O 6 months ago AR O Mental Reality alteration

With the sound of the final bell, Doug now quickly began to make his way towards the mascot statue. It was odd for the newly minted teen, part of him needed to talk with Nancy about what had happened. The other part, a part that seemed to be growing louder as the day went on, wanted nothing more than to embrace is girlfriend in a loving embrace. Spotting the pretty, auburn haired teen Doug smiled, surprised as the girl now sprinted towards him leaping into his arms before giving him a quick kiss. "Sorry," she blushed.

"N..no it's okay," he stammered. "I, um, I'm glad to see you too." Lowering Nancy to the ground the teens now blushed as they awkwardly gazed at one another. "So how was class?"

"Ugh boring," Nancy groaned. "English was a bore fest, so was Math, but Graphic design was actual pretty cool." Nancy now paused, crinoline her nose before looking up at Doug. "Whats happening to us? I'm feeling more and more like some teenager."

"Yeah I noticed it too," he whispered. "I don't know it's like, totally weird, I know we're supposed to be adults but I'm thinking more and more like a kid the longer we stay like this."

"Are we going to forget we're supposed to be like, super old," Nancy asked. Doug shrugged, he wasn't quite sure. Everything that had happened since the wishes had been almost surreal. Doug felt as if a war was going on in his mind. One moment he would be thinking of himself as a man in his 50s. The next he would slip into a more youthful mindset of teenager. Memories of reality that had been crafted flooding his mind, mulling together. Doug remembered both realities clearly but it gave him a bit of a headache. The older mind wanting an aspirin, his more youthful mind wanting a beer or maybe some weed.

"I don't think we're going to forget," Doug stated. "I mean I remember the coin, the wishes, being like super old but I think thinking younger will take more of a hold."

"I think I understand," Nancy stated. "Like I was looking out the window during History and I noticed my car. One second I was thinking how boring and ugly it was and how I should buy something cute and then the next minute I was thinking how sophomoric that was considering I've already paid it off and the gas mileage is phenomenal." Nancy now paused, sighing as she looked at Doug. "And I'm useing the word like in way more sentences than I want too."

Doug chuckled, nodding in agreement. He too found himself slipping as well. Teenage lingo was infiltrating his vocabulary as well. "Yeah same here," he said. "Although kind of ironic you useing the word sophomoric all things considered."

Nancy giggled, playfully pushing Doug before smiling. "Oh ha ha," she smiled. "So any suggestions on what to do? And if it's change back it might be a hard pass from me. It's weird being 16 again but being an 80 year old fossil has lost alot of its appeal."

"Kind of in the same boat," Doug shrugged. "Its super weird. Like I remember my old life but thinking of changing back to that is kind of scary. I mean I'd hate to lose my family. My parents, my siblings. I haven't even technically met them yet and I have this weird familial connection to them."

"Least you have siblings," Nancy stated. "Apparently I'm an only child. I mean the parents I have now seem cool but it's just the three of us. It'slike e weird, I remember them being so proud when I made the cheer team. I remember my mom taking me to ballet as a kid, my dad taking me and my Pop Warner cheer squad to a competition. I haven't even met them yet."

"Yeah definitely blows my mind," Doug said softly. "Just out of curiosity, were you a cheerleader before? Like when you were a teenager the first time?"

"Hell no," Nancy laughed. "In fact I was a complete nerd. I always wished that I could have been pretty and popular but I was quiet and studious."

Doug paused, he had no expected that. Could the coin have given Nancy her ideal teenage life when they had made the wish. "Really you a nerd," he asked in surprise. "Kind of surprised. You were really hot at 16."

"Thanks," Nancy blushed. "Its weird to think that. I look exactly as I did when I was 16 the first time. Do you think the coin kind of read my mind and gave me my deepest wish?"

"Stranger things have happened."

"Like becoming a teenager," Nancy grinned.

Doug smirked, the pair only beginning to understand how the coin worked. With school over and the pair having the afternoon to themselves, they wondered how to proceed with their newly found wishing coin.
