"What have you done to me?!" Claire shouted over the phone.
"Rela-aax," Jennifer tried to coax the new spider-girl. "I'm making you a millionaire like me. Like you wanted."
"By turning me into THIS? Change me back!"
"Okaa-aay. Fine. It's yooour loss. Just pa-aaass the curse baa-aaa-ack to me-ee, aa- aand traa-ansform mee-eee to haa-aave faa-a-aaster growing wooool aa-aand tooo talk like aa-aa normal humaaa-aan."
Claire paused for a moment. She looked back in the mirror, scanning her entire body. She was a frightening creature. Could the curse possibly make everyone else okay with it? If Jennifer was also cursed, then maybe that was true. Nobody, not even Claire, ever questioned the existence of a half-sheep going to school with hundreds of regular humans. Still, she definitely didn't want to pay this kind of price just to make some money.
"Transform or Dare?" she finally said.
"Traaa-aaansform," came Jennifer's anxious reply.
"Okay, Jennifer," Claire scowled. "I'll change your voice, at least. You'll no longer speak with a sheep accent and you'll have fully-human vocal cords. But to make sure you hold up your end of the bargain, here comes some insurance. Your wool will grow faster. A lot faster. One inch per minute. However, it will be so strong that nothing will be able to cut it or tear it from your body. You can't make a profit on it if you can't give it up, right?"
"Ooo-ookay, f...fine," Jennifer stuttered. Claire heard her clear her throat a few times. "Ah, is it back to normal now? Yes!"
"So, are you going to change me back to normal now?"
"Why don't you just pick some other kind of way I can change you that will get you money?"
"I don't really care about it anymore," Claire looked over one of her lanky arms. "If losing my humanity is the only way to do it, then maybe it's not worth it at all."
On the other end of the line, Jennifer was beginning to sympathize. She stared in her own mirror, at her half-sheep body, pointed ears, flat nose and curvy horns. Already the transformation was becoming apparent, as across what was one minute ago bare skin, fine black strands were blossoming from their follicles. She watched them grow for a few seconds, then returned her attention to Claire.
"But maybe we can work around that. Stay human, but still be able to do or produce something worth money?" Jennifer suggested.
