In the end Anya came to a compromise. "Jess" still got the occasional suckle but most of Anya’s milk production went to feed the newly born infant who they found out was to be named Jaspar. He was named after Gillian’s father. It had been Gillian’s choice of a name should the child be a boy.
That caused a problem for Prince Jaspar as even when they were alone Anya began to call her Jess. Anya wanted to avoid the confusion of having two Jaspar’s in her care.
The other problem for Prince Jaspar was that she and Anya moved out of the hut and into the house. It was certainly more comfortable for Anya as she now had a proper bed and a small room of her own. The former Prince Jaspar, now a toddler girl universally known as Jess, found herself moved into the nursery, sharing with the newborn Jaspar and Mary’s two children, Sabrina (9 months) and Katelyn (4).
Consequently “Jess” was always near someone else and consequently compelled to act how she was perceived.
Mary had taken on the role of housekeeper during Gillian’s confinement and now with Gillian in the grave that became her permanent role. Mary also took on Gillian’s other role of supervising the staff of the dairy.
Anya found herself as full-time wet nurse, nanny and governess to the four young children. This was a big step up in status from goat herd. That job was given to an orphaned girl rescued from a neighbouring farm that had been razed by bandits.
Anya was now also a member of the household. She ate her evening meals at the dining table with Conrad and Mary. Mary did not think it appropriate that Anya sit at the table in the now ragged outfit that Anya had fled the city in. So Anya found herself gifted a selection of Gillian’s dresses, Mary taking the rest for herself, as Conrad no longer had a use for them. They only needed a little bit of alteration to fit Anya’s voluptuous body.
Conrad slowly came out of his depression. It helped his demeanour that the new governess was a beauty. He could remember when the girl arrived she was quite filthy and he had given her a job as a goat herd. Now bathed and dressed in fine clothes the brunette's beauty shone through. Conrad began to look forward to the evening meals when the governess was present.
As for the former Prince Jaspar, she rarely was able to have an adult conversation anymore. The few times she did manage to find herself alone with Anya, she would immediately ask; ‘When will you change me back?’ She was given evasive answers about it not being safe yet and immediately returned to the nursery and her compulsion. It was very frustrating, all she could do was to concentrate on relearning to walk and control her bladder. She felt a great sense of accomplishment when after two weeks living in the house she finally managed independent steps.
