"Jeff?" Ryan looked at his phone completely confused. He hadn't spoken to Jeff in years. It'd been even longer since they'd actually been friends. After Jeff had hit puberty and started turning into a giant tiger person, their social circles started to change. It was the same with their interests.
Ryan let it go to voicemail only to see his phone start ringing again with Jeff's phone number. "Hello?" he answered it, hesitation still in his voice.
"YO!" Jeff shouted into the phone. "You won't believe what just happened!"
The phone nearly launched out of Ryan's hand as the speaker in his phone peaked. He had to hold it a good six inches from his ear before he felt safe. "What happened?" Ryan asked. This being the first thing Jeff said to him after they hadn't talked in years did have his curiosity. He'd figured once the two went to separate colleges they'd probably never see each other again.
"Dude. Get this," Jeff continued. "I turned into a tiger!"
"Huh?" Ryan uttered. Of course Jeff was a tiger. Everyone knew that. It was something that was absolutely impossible to miss. Seeing a 6'8" muscle bound white and black fur was one of the first things anyone saw. Then why was Jeff acting like this was out of the ordinary?
"I know! Right! It's so freaking crazy!" Jeff continued as though this was something that was weird. "Dude. Can I come over. I wanna show you."
"Sure? Let me ask my dad," Ryan said. He left his room and went to the living room to see his dad watching the news. "Hey. Dad. Is it alright if Jeff comes over?"
"Jeff?" the older man paused trying to think of any Jeff that Ryan must have been friends with. "Jeff?" he repeated running the name through his databanks but clearly only ending up with the giant tiger. "Wait. Jeff? As is Jeff Jeff?" Ryan nodded. "As in Jeff Jeff JEFF," each time raising his hand just a bit higher to emphasize who he was talking about. Again, Ryan nodded. His dad nearly jumped off the couch. "Of course! I didn't realize you were still friends with him."
"Neither did I..." Ryan replied.
"Well, I don't mind," Ryan's dad said as he went around the room cleaning up the little clutter that had accumulated. Then moved some of the furniture as to make more room for the giant about to grace their presence. "Go ahead. Invite him over."
Ryan went back to his room and picked up his phone. "Yeah. You can come over," he said.
"SWEET! I can't wait to show you!" Jeff hung up the phone.
