Jen took a seat on her favorite toy, her space hopper. It was an inflated red rubber ball, much like a yoga ball, except it had two U-shaped handles on either side of where a person’s thighs would be so they could hold on.
Jen’s phone rings.
“Hello, we are calling about your car’s extended warranty.”
Jen hangs up the phone.
“Stupid spam callers,” she mutters to herself. She tries to stand up and finish getting ready for school but finds that she can’t. She looks down in horror to discover that she no longer had legs. At her waist, a few inches below her belly button, she is seamlessly fused with her space hopper.
Jen screams in terror and pushes down on her ball near her waist with all her might, trying to free herself from the rubber orb which was now the lower half of her body. Instead the inflated rubber just flexed under her hands, and, much to her dismay, she could feel herself touching it as though it were skin.
Crying, Jen slapped her giant ball. “Ow!,” she said, feeling the sting from her hand on her rubber.
“I am gonna kill that freak Kyle,” she said, “but I can’t let this him prevent me from getting to school.” Jen couldn’t miss any more days or she might risk being expelled, and she had just been put in a gym group with her crush, Nathan, which she didn’t want to miss either. The thought of Nathan riding her like the space hopper she was, his hands gripping her handles, or maybe something else, briefly went through her mind before she focused herself.
“I have to figure out how to get this stupid body to school,” she said as she sniffed her tears away.
