You decide to browse and rapidly scoff inwardly at Mike. You shrug off your previous feeling of that guy actually being serious. Ludicrous! He is really taking you for a downright idiot. He's pulling your leg, the expression being very appropriate indeed here. As you browse, you decide to take him at his own moronic prank. You'll pretend to take HIM for a real imbecile. You quickly get your ideas more precise for your joke when you see the section for children and babies. You'll pretend to want to but and put on kid's socks and get them out of shape before deciding against it and putting them back. You'll pretend to give credence to Mike's tall tales and get him to lose money. The joke would definitely be on him now!
And as you look at the rows and rows of socks, you realize that it would be a bit hard to choose. Should you pick up a frilly and expensive-looking girly pair? There are plenty of those. Some have poneys. Others hearts or unicorns. Others still show mermaids, ballerina bears, pegasi, princesses, pink dragons, fairies, rainbows and lots and lots of other motifs and patterns. As for the boy's socks, they have less pastel colors but motifs with dinosaurs, robots, astronauts, dragons, aliens, centaurs, trucks and other such designs. Finally, you pick up a tiny pair with a motif with a smile, happy with your choice. You remove your own shoes and socks and slip the kiddie socks. Of course, they cover your big toe solely and you walk back almost barefoot to where Mike was when you left him.
"Mike! I've chosen!" you shout, triumphant and happy with your prank.
