Only after Jessie and Brendan had long departed did Angela begin to wonder whether the swap had been a great idea. There was no doubt that Brendan would expect ’Angela’ to have a few drinks. She could imagine Brendan selecting from the wine list and they would share at least one bottle. How would Jessie behave with alcohol in her system? Angela really didn’t know. She did know the effect it had on herself – she would lose all her inhibitions and become all giggly. With Jessie now having Angela’s body would alcohol have the same effect on her?
Too late now. They would be arriving at the restaurant. All Angela could hope for, was that Jessie didn’t make a fool of ‘Angela’. Meanwhile she had a night at home with Aaron. A night at home when she could interact with him as a teenager herself. After dinner and cleaning up (had she just done that herself out of habit?) she approached Aaron who was watching TV.
“Do you feel like playing a game little brother?”
Aaron gave her a strange look “Who are you and what have you done with my sister?”
“Huh?” had Aaron seen through her disguise?
“You haven’t wanted to play games with me for years. You told me games were juvenile”
“Did I?..... I was only joking. You like board games don’t you?” Angela didn’t know that was Jessie’s opinion about board games. Jessie usually would join in when they had family games nights. She had not realised that Jessie thought such games were juvenile
“I love board games. You’re the one who usually says no. What did you want to play?”
“I don’t care. Your choice”
“Lost Cities then”
“Okay Lost Cities it is” Angela had played this game several times. She wasn’t a complete novice.
It was fun to leave the mother role behind and just interact with her son. Aaron won but Angela didn’t mind at all. She had a great night with Aaron.
However, it eventually was Aaron’s bedtime, 9.30. Aaron although victorious was tired. He wanted to and needed to go to bed. Angela sent him off and packed up the game.
That left Angela in a quandry, Jessie’s body was tired as well. She had wanted to stay up until Brendan and Jessie returned, but that would be out of character for “Jessie”. Brendan and Jessie may not return until midnight, or even later. Jessie would never wait up for them. The real Jessie would at this stage go to bed herself.
Angela ended up turning on the TV and found a movie. She promptly fell asleep on the lounge.
