"It's a bit late, would you like to stay the night? We could go to the college together tomorrow..." Rachel said, trying not to sound nervous before a blush reached her face as Charlene came in. "I mean, if it's okay... you could stay on the couch or... something... if you want....”
Charlene stopped in the doorway and smiled a little. Rachel had always been the most shy of her daughters, something her ex husband had never really understood very well. He had always tried to push her to being more social, not realizing that she would need to do that in her own time and on her own terms.
"Well, hmm..." Cynthia said as she looks thoughtful for a moment, trying to decide whether or not to agree. She looked at Rachel and then glanced over at Charlene. It wouldn't be a major problem for her to go home, but at the same time, it was getting late and maybe it wouldn't be so bad. It really showed a lot about Rachel that she trusted herself enough after everything that had happened. Maybe it would help her feel better if she did.
"Sure," she said with a smile. "I can just sleep on the couch, if that's okay."
"Alright, I'll get the couch ready," Charlene said as Rachel let out a breath as her mother went to get a blanket and pillow.
"Thanks," Rachel said as the two young women headed back into the living room. Rachel took a seat and looked at Cynthia, trying to think about what to say next.
