The gods decided it was time for insects to rule given how unfairly the humans treated them. Throughout the world, humans were reduced in size. Some grew wings, most grew additional appendages, and others gained unique attributes. Regardless, they were nothing but pests now. At the same time, insects grew larger and gained intelligence. Although it took some finagling to adjust the populations, the gods managed to work things out. The lifespans of humans and insects were swapped, and humans now bred like mad to keep up their population.
Throughout the world, anthro insects carried out their normal lives while the tiny human pests scampered around their feet or buzzed around their heads. Though the insects initially took pleasure in squishing their previous tormentors, the insects quickly became annoyed as the humans proved quite irksome. It didn't take long for their homes, backyards, and places of work to be infested with these human vermin. Bug sprays, bug zappers, and human swatters were often dispatched to deal with these troublesome pests.
