The end of the world had come as everyone had feared.
As tensions between the United States and Russia increased, things finally came to a head with the launch of nuclear weapons. But the world wasn't completely unprepared, as many projects had been set up across the United States in hopes of finding a way to survive the coming apocalypse. Large underground shelters had been constructed to undertake these experiments, with civilians becoming the test subjects, after all survival was more important at this point.
In Shelter 4, which had been built under New York City, a group of scientists were preparing for the next step. They had already started taking people into the Shelter, and everything seemed to be in order.
"We have everything prepared, the serum is in place and ready for the transformation process," a female scientist said as she read over her tablet. "How many people do we have coming in?"
"We're going to be full to capacity at around 1048 people," a male scientist said as he checked over the data that was coming in. "All our environmental systems are in place. We should have enough of a test group to make sure it works. The only problem is the Feral Phenomenon."
"What's the percentage of ferals in the initial test group?" A third scientist asked.
"20%," the male scientist answered. "And that's assuming the radiation doesn't exacerbate the problem. We will need to remove any ferals from the population as well. Are we going to dispose of them?"
"No, procedure states that any ferals are to be released out of the Shelter," the first scientist said. "They will be part of the control group to determine the effects of the Beastman project. The problem is that it also may spread the project if there are any survivors outside of the Shelter."
"A necessary sacrifice," the fourth Doctor, and the head of Project Beastman, said. "And likely the Feral phenomenon won't spread too far beyond that. So, we will see what the full effects will be on humanity. Now, start preparing for the insemination of the Beastman formula. Remember that we must expose ourselves as well to keep the illusion of the experiment, so have your own serums prepared."
"Yes sir," the scientists said.

The Beastman Project was a project that had been developed as an effort to fight off the effects of nuclear fallout using animal DNA. The project had proven successful in testing, save for the problem of some subjects descending into a feral animalistic state. Initial exposure was set in Shelter Four, but the potential of it spreading beyond that was already present due to the release of ferals. This may shape the future of Earth and Humanity after the bombs fell. The Beastmen are humans turned into anthro animals as well as their offspring as created by the Beastman serum.
Beastmen are separated into the following categories:
Felines: Felines are usually based on domestic cats, but there are a number of other species that can present. Felines are mostly female and there appears to be a potential gender swap effect on males exposed to the serum.
Canines: Canines are mostly based on wolves, coyotes, and other large canines with a few different dog breeds as well.
Ungulates: Hooved animals, they are commonly horses, deer, and elk, but you will occasionally get other species as well.
Insectoids: The rarest of the Beastmen, the Insectoids will take on traits of various insects or arachnids.
Avians: These Beastfolk are based on birds of various kinds with the serum changing the body of the subject most extensively to give them the ability to fly.
Aquatics: A rarer type of Beastfolk, Aquatics are based on fish, dolphins, and other underwater creatures.
Shelter Four has been constructed with environments ideal for each type. The serum will infect all of its population. What kind of story will you follow?
