1. the victim touches the crystal in any way. the crystal will then shatter.
2. it enters the airways. from where the transformation starts I've figured out why women are affected. it uses the ovaries as breeding grounds, this is why the genitals are left human.
3. it then uses the vagina as a release system. it will replace the old cells with new animal ones immediately.
4. the crystals have been seen destroyed in tandem. this causes 2 effects.

red: this crystal is the most dangerous. from its victims, I've determined what it does. it overloads the mind with animal instincts. this erases the memory of the victim. thankfully it is the second least occurring crystal. the crystal takes the shape of a brain
orange: the second most common crystal. it only affects the body. this sources the victims to learn how their new body works. appearance resembles a bone.
yellow: the most common crystal. it works like the one above. however, there is a second change included. the crystal has a high concentration of testosterone. this causes the female to become a male animal. the genitals will still be human. perhaps it's due to the overload of testosterone. the victim's new genitals will be bigger than the animal they are. (note: elephants not seen yet). this one resembles a penis and balls.
green: natural occurrence. this is the most stable of the crystals. it even lets the person choose their animal in 5 seconds. however, it becomes unstable and randomizes if time is exceeded. it vaguely resembles a 5 or s.
blue: this crystal is as common as the green one. from personal experience, I've gathered what it does. it mixes the female's genes with animals. this is also why blue crystals don't cause their victims to cum. it merges rather than replaces the cells. this one looks like a DNA helix.
indigo: rarest occurrence. These crystals are classified as extremely unstable. they cherry-pick random parts of animals. they don't even have to correspond to the placement. a woman can have wings on her thighs. a frog head can replace a foot. it has no sensible form, it shifts like water.
violate: unknown. it has been seen but no one knows what it does. it is slightly less common than green crystals. it just looks like a normal crystal.
additional notes: the crystals when touched 2 at a time combine their powers. this causes a more extreme effect on the victim. the clear indication of former humans is the color of their eyes. these correspond to the affected people. blue crystal case blue eyes. when mixed the eye color also mixes.
blue and yellow crystals cause lime-green eyes. the reason for the appearance of the crystals is unknown. What we do know is the crystals duplicate from the remains of the broken crystal.
"that's all I have now. the biggest problem is the radius is slowly expanding" Dr. Jones said. this was true several crystals were popping up in a growing circle of the park. it had just passed the CDC checkpoint. "any luck with an antidote?" Lisa said getting up.
