Yevgeny left the harem quarters, his mind still reeling. He couldn’t believe what had just happened. Prince Jasper was safe and sound, transformed into a beautiful concubine named Janessa. And to his delight, said concubine had the ear of the new King. He had successfully talked his way into a position as a guard at the Palace, but due to his loyalty to the previous King, he was not trusted much yet. It would be some time before he worked his way up the ladder into a role where he could learn valuable information.
Janessa, though, could pass along the information Yevgeny was not going to have access to for months at the earliest. It made sense. Antyny was weak for beautiful women. And Janessa truly was beautiful. Yevgeny couldn’t help but admire the current concubine, former Prince. Her body and face were perfect. And seeing her nude in the private chamber, Yevgeny could barely believe she was truly Prince Jasper.
Anya's magic was most powerful. Though in her current state, Anya would not be able to cast many spells. Yevgeny had purposefully avoided telling Janessa this, but Anya was pregnant with Prince Jasper's child. This was another reason she would be stuck as Janessa for some time. Pregnancy frequently made a witch's magic weaker, and such was the case for Anya. Only after Anya gave birth would she be able to work on undoing the transformation. And hopefully Prince Jasper, once returned to his proper self, would be willing to finally marry Anya. Something he should have done ages ago, were it not for anti-witch sentiment. But now that Prince Jasper's life only continued due to witches, Yevgeny was optimistic that he might change things.
Once Yevgeny reached the spot he was supposed to be patrolling, he resumed his work. Though he wouldn’t be patrolling for very long. With the information he now had as to what had happened to Prince Jasper, he had a very specific task he needed to tend to first.
