Janessa once again sat on Antyny's lap during the next council meeting. She was prepared for him to begin massaging her breasts as he grew bored during the meeting. Though she moaned happily and closed her eyes, she was still able to pay attention. When Antyny moved south, however, she once again lost control. Antyny's hand slowly slid down, into her underwear. "I will visit you soon," Antyny promised. "Wait outside for Yevgeny to escort you back to the harem." Janessa kissed him deeply.

She left the council chamber and stood in the hall to wait for Yevgeny. As she waited, the only woman on the council, Lady Rateem, approached her.
"Miss Janessa," Lady Rateem said shortly. Janessa curtsied.
"Lady Rateem."
"Why do you come to the meetings?" Lady Rateem asked sharply. Janessa stifled a sigh. It seemed she was already under suspicion.
"The King wants me there."
"Why?"
"I make him happy. Of course he wants me by his side. Or on his lap," Janessa added with a giggle. Lady Rateem was not amused.
"So your only purpose at the meeting is arm candy. Why then do you pay such close attention? When the King is not performing disgusting foreplay upon you in front of us."
"He wishes me to be his Queen once I am with child. I feel it only makes sense for me to learn some of what I will need to know as his wife." Janessa's polite smile grew slightly vicious. "I enjoy sex, so I sought the role of concubine. But Prince Jasper refused to have airheaded women in his harem. I am more intelligent than my dress and job may suggest."
"I do not doubt that," Lady Rateem said. "But I do doubt your ability to bear a child." Janessa's mouth dropped open in shock. "Rumors have spread that Prince Jasper hired concubines who were infertile. How else could he have avoided children?"
"Charms were used by my harem sisters," Janessa said desperately. Lady Rateem crossed her arms.
"And what about now? Why have you yet to become with child? The King visits you nonstop. If you were fertile, surely you would be pregnant by now." Before Janessa could reply, Yevgeny appeared.
"I apologize for being late, Miss Janessa," he said. "There was an intruder I had to take care of." He bowed to Lady Rateem. "My Lady, I must return Miss Janessa to her quarters."
"Very well," Lady Rateem muttered. As they walked away, Yevgeny asked Janessa about her conversation with Lady Rateem, as well as the contents of the meeting. Janessa told him. He sighed.
"Already she is suspicious of you. Well, I contacted Anya through magical means. She says once you become pregnant, the spell will be stuck until you give birth, but not become pregnant. And she says you should be able to bear a child easily."
"Then why am I not with child yet?" Janessa asked. "Clearly, it is not just the best way to learn information, but also the only way suspicions upon me will be lightened."
"It is possible you are pregnant already but unaware. After all, I doubt you know the methods of detecting pregnancy."
"I see." Janessa frowned. "I have need of a magical charm."
"What kind?"
