Jeff felt a tingling and he turned into Jason.
Jason let go of his hand with a start. Jeff said, "I didn't mean to startle you. Now I don't have to look at you. I can be you any time.
"No way."
"You thought I was the answer to your dreams a few hours ago. Why is this any different?"
"Because shape-changing aliens don't exist."
"Why, just because you never met one?"
"Because they don't."
"That's a very unscientific reason. Maybe you just make ideas up in your head. That way you can think what you want."
"Okay, maybe they do."
"I'm not an alien."
"Either way, there is a scientific reason."
"But you just assumed because I changed into you I was an alien. But I'm not."
"I don't believe in aliens. So it makes more sense you are not."
"My dad told me once that science observing cause and effect. Like if I push a cup off the table, it falls. And we call that gravity. That's how we learn how things work."
"Yes, this is correct."
"Some of the things they call science in school are made up and sound like science."
"Like what? You are going to say evolution."
"No, you assumed again. I was going to say like explosions. Explosions destroy things. They tear things apart. So it's silly and unscientific to think that everything came from an explosion, isn't it? That would be scientific, because we have never seen an explosion create anything, except burnt debris."
"But its the same as evolution. You are against evolution after all," Jason argued.
"No, I didn't say anything about evolution. Evolution is about something changing over time. I'm talking about explosions."
"Okay. But they say all the universe is expanding, all the stars getting further apart from each other, so that's why they believe it was an explosion that started everything."
"So it makes sense to believe that everything started closer together and was pushed somehow. But since we know explosions destroy things and we've never seen one make a toad or a plant, we also know it can't be from an explosion. So it must be something else."
"You are strange."
"Why?"
"You argue every little thing."
"I was just thinking. That's how science works. We see something happen and think about why it happened."
Jeff kissed Jason. It was stange, because Jason felt like he was kissing himself. But it felt good too.
"Why did you do that?" Jason asked.
"Because you seemed so angry. I wondered why, and I think it's because people hurt you. So you need love."
Jason got angry. "I don't need your charity."
Jeff thought Jason was going to attack him. So Jeff used his judo. He was careful not to hurt Jason. Jason landed on his back, and was dazed. Jeff felt his head and looked in his eyes. Jason would be okay. Jeff took Jason's clothes and put them on. "I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt you. But I didn't want to get hurt by you either. I will return your clothes, but I need them to get home right now."
Jeff turned back into his own body. The blue was gone now. The paint came off in the transformation.
"You're just like everyone else," Jason said angry. "You hurt me like everyone else."
"You were going to hurt me. If you think everyone is the same, you treat them all the same. But people are individuals. Maybe if you treat people nice, some people will treat you nice."
"And maybe I already tried that. Maybe they weren't nice anyway."
"Then stay away from those people. Find new ones. I know some people are nice. I'm sorry you were hurt by people. I'll return with your clothes later. Goodbye." Jeff turned back into Jason's body so he wouldn't get Jason in trouble.
Jeff walked out to find his way home. In the hallway he apologized for being mean to the landlady in the past. He said he wanted to try to be a better person. She was surprised. She didn't know what to say. She wasn't used to him being nice.
