It is 3:00pm on a warm and sunny late spring in Miami, everybody is enjoying the amazing weather, except for one 12 year-old boy. This boy’s name is “Riley Jones”, he is a 5’3’’ small, he has an athletic body, short brown hair, brown eyes and a natural brown tan. The reason for Riley not enjoying the day, is due to him having to sit in an empty classroom with only one other person: the meanest teacher of the whole school, “Mr. Huff”.
Mr. Huff, is a big dude, he is at least 6’7’’, he has big muscles, not to many, just enough to make it look intimidating. The man is proud of his muscular body, this causes him to be y tyrant towards students, regularly bullying them and giving them detention for no reason. In Riley’s case, Mr. Huff has given the boy detention for simply yawning in class.
Mr. Huff is sitting at the desk, reading in a newspaper, while Riley is writing an essay about wolves, Mr. Huff’s favourite animals.
‘Man, this is soooo exhausting. I need a break,’ Riley thinks to himself, “um… s-sir,” he then says.
Without looking up from his newspaper, Mr. Huff growls, “what is it, shrimp?”
“I… I am ha-halfway done with the essay,” the boy says, “I… I wanted to ask… m-may I t-take a short break of… um… five or ten minutes?”
Mr. Huff looks up, “hm… I don’t know,” he says, “let me read what you have written so far, and IF it satisfies me, you may take a five minute break”.
Riley nods, he gets up from his seat and takes his half written essay to the teacher, who snatches it from the boy’s hand and starts to read it. The boy is shaking, out of fear and hope, hoping Mr. Huff likes what he had written so far.
After a while Mr. Huff hands the papers back to Riley, “I must admit,” he says, “I’ve seen worse. It seems that you have a big knowledge of wolves, I like that. So, since I liked what you have written so far, you may take a ten minute break, besides I need to piss anyway. I will have to lock you in, but I think you’ll enjoy being alone for a while, right?”
Riley nods, “th-thanks, sir,” he says, he then heads back to his seat and pulls out his phone and a bottle of water, after Mr. Huff has locked him in.
The boy lets out a relieved and relaxed sigh, “man… that dude is scary,” he mumbles to himself, opening the App store and starting to scroll through some game Apps, until one catches his eye: “The App Of Change”.
Curious Riley taps on the App and reads the description:
“The App Of Change is an App which is able to make someone’s wildest dreams come true. This App is only available for grown ups since it has a unlimited power: it is able to transform anything and anyone into various things, like animals, objects, other people. It is also able to create clones/copies of a scanned person. Have you ever wanted to make a “special night” even more “special”? Maybe by transforming yourself and your lover into an anthropomorphic animal, like a tiger, fox, dog… maybe even a dragon? This App is able to make that fantasy a reality. But be warned: use the App wisely, or there could be extreme consequences, the company and developers won’t take any responsibility for your actions!”
Riley’s eyes are wide by this point, “why, if it is a game… App… for grown ups… why is it in the children game section? Maybe it is an error,” he asks himself, “it would be so cool if it would actually work, I always wanted to know what it would be like being a dog. But… I doubt this is legit… but… what if it is true and this App is able to do these things?”
The 12 year-old feels so conflicted, one part of him wants to try the App out, while the other part tells him to keep his hands away from it. Riley mentally struggles, but his curiosity is just to strong, “to hell,” the boy says, “I just got to know if it really works,” so, the boy downloads and installs the App.
After the App is installed, Riley opens it and scrolls through all the options and reads the manual, the boy then decides to scan himself, but he is unsure if he should try it out on himself or on something else first.
While Riley is trying to decide what to do, he hears the door to the class room unlock and when he looks up, he sees Mr. Huff entering, ‘I… I could try it out on Mr. Huff,’ he thinks to himself, ‘at least I’ll know that it works. But… what if something goes wrong? Maybe I should wait until I am home? Man, what should I do?’
