Jake tried to explain to the two teachers what had happened, how he was Jake and how he had mysteriously changed into Ruby after touching the bra he had found. He could see that were not believing him.
"Ruby, this is not making sense. Why were you showering in the boys change room?" asked the principal. The principal Mr Jacobs turned to the gym teacher Mr Cotter and said. "Perhaps you could go ask Mrs Hastie (the school nurse) to join us. I'm thinking Ruby might be having some sort of breakdown. Ask her to bring a girls uniform in. Anything from the lost property will do" Mr Jacobs was aware that the young girl seated before him was wearing nothing but a towel.
He then turned back to the girl he thought was Ruby "So Ruby. How did you get to the boys change room? The front office told me you were there not 5 minutes ago?"
"I'm not Ruby. Why don't you believe me? It might be this medallion I found. I think it's magical or something" explained a scared and agitated Jake. Jake held out the medallion to show the principal. Fortunately or unfortunately he had grabbed it as he had left the change room.
Mr Jacobs looked across at Mr Cotter but the gym teacher was still talking on the phone. He turned back to 'Ruby' and decided to indulge the poor confused girl. He accepted the medallion she was giving him and recoiled when he felt a zap of static electricity. He ignored the shock and tried to calm the girl. "This is a pretty medallion. Where did you find it?" He handed it back to the girl
"It was just caught on a branch in some bushes, I noticed it while walking to school. Do you think it's magical? Could it be what changed me?"
"Did you bump your head when you retrieved this medallion Ruby? I'll get Mrs Hastie to check you out"
Jake was getting annoyed that the principal didn't believe what he was saying. "Mr Jacobs, I'm not Ruby. I'm Jake"
"Now Ruby, let's be sensible. Magical medallions that change you into someone else don't exist. You must have bumped your head. Perhaps you should lie down and rest. Why don't you wait here until Mrs Hastie arrives"
Maybe it's Ruby's bra then that is magical. Something changed me"
"She's on the way" informed Mr Cotter.
"Let's leave Ruby here to rest. I need to return to the front office and neither of us should be alone with her. You had better get back to your class" The principal informed the gym teacher. He then turned to the girl he thought was Ruby. "Mrs Hastie will be here in a minute. You just wait. Perhaps go and lie down on those gym mats" Jake did so reluctantly.
The two men then left the gym office and headed in opposite directions. Neither noticed that Mr Jacobs was fractionally shorter nor that his hair was getting thicker.
