“So you are thinking you want someone who is a different race, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality than me.” The student starts, with the advisor nodding. “Since I am a white, straight, male, middle-class individual it would probably be different than that.”
The advisors magic artifact begins to activate, unknown to the student.
The person I am thinking of is… a thin short young white lady with red hair and green eyes.” Your height drops to 5 feet and weight drops to 100 lbs. You revert to 18 years old. Your hair disappears from everywhere on your body except your head where it starts to fall down to your mid back. Your shoulders narrow and other features change to align with your new sex.
“This person may have grown up doing acting or theatre and playing musical a musical instrument or two. They may have gone to cadets as well.”
Memories of playing the accordion and alto saxophone come to mind, and trying acting and technical theatre. Doing drill parades come to mind as well.
“They may be studying in a more male dominated field. Possibly Engineering, and have a history in trades.” Memories of taking high school classes in trades shops, being an apprentice, and now being accepted to studying Engineering come to you.”
“This may be to get into the fashion industry or something else. It may be good for them to have extracurriculars. They might like Dungeons and Dragons, board games, and gymnastics. They may also be bisexual, married, and have a kid.
As you finish you sit before her you smile, happy for the scholarship to study engineering. You hope to get into the fashion industry after school designing outfits.
You remember growing up in a family of 9 kids, 7 boys 2 girls. Your Dad is a Garbage man from Ireland and your Mom is a mathematician from Russia.
You remember your mom ensuring you dressed properly, including home clothes and night clothes, but neither parent caring much if you drank small amounts of alcohol underage at home.
You didn’t have much money growing up, since housing is expensive, but you got a scholarship to attend a private school. Thanks to subsidized school programs you were able to do learn instruments and go do gymnastics. Later you joined air cadets and learned to fly.
In high school you took classes in sewing, cooking, and mechanics. In the summer you were an apprentice in a mechanic shop, but learned that maybe you’d prefer the fashion industry over mechanics. During the week you went to Gymnastics and starting trying Dungeons and Dragons, finding it fun.
You consider having kids some day. You hope what you learn here will help you develop the knowledge and connections to break into the industry.
