Meanwhile the real Ruby arrived at the gym and was stunned when she came face to face with her twin as she entered Mr Cotter's office. This girl was wearing a cheerleader uniform. "Who the hell are you and how come you look like me?" she asked after a pause.
"Can I gather you are Jake? Or perhaps someone else?" the cheerleader asked.
"What are you talking about? Do I look like a Jake? No you answer my question first"
"So you are not Jake?"
"You answer my question. Then I might tell you who I am"
"Are you Ruby?"
Just then Mrs Hastie who was still on the gym mat uttered "Oh no someone else is affected"
Ruby swung around and observed she had another twin, or that would be triplet. This girl was clad in a skirt and top way too big for Ruby's athletic but busty body. "Oh hell! No wonder there are rumours running around the school about me! How can this be happening?"
"So you are the real Ruby? Do you know what has caused this?" asked the cheerleader
'Yes I'm the real Ruby! But who the hell are you? And why are you two impersonating me? Who put you up to this and how are you so well disgiused?"
"Okay I guess I need to tell you who I am. But this is not to go beyond these four walls. I am or was Mr Jacobs. I think this medallion changed me. Do you recognise it?" He held up the necklace and locket Mrs Hastie had given him.
"Mr Jacobs? The headmaster?" Ruby was gobsmacked
"Unfortunately so. And this" he indicated the girl in the too big clothes "I have just found out was Mrs Hastie the school nurse"
"Mrs Hastie? How? Why?"
"Purely by accident I assure you. This was not intended. There is no scientific justification for this to have happened. I can only put it down to supernatural forces. I know I changed after touching this medallion which was in possession at the time by another twin of yours who claimed to be Jake. She didn't even clarify which Jake, there are several at the school"
"But that's my necklace" Mrs Hastie cut in. "It was never in possession of anyone called Jake. You are the only person other than myself who has had that necklace today"
The cheerleader thought for a moment before replying "Oh I guess this isn't the same necklace in that case. I did think the necklace that changed me had a bigger medallion on it"
"That sounds like the necklace you had on earlier Ruby. When I gave you the spare uniform. Now that I think about it I did get a shock when I touched it"
"I've got no idea what you are talking about" said a perplexed Ruby. "You never gave me a spare uniform. And this is the only necklace I have worn today" Ruby showed a silver chain that was around her neck. It was just a chain.
"Where is Cotter? He might know what is going on. He was the one who found Ruby or Jake or whoever she was in the shower. Perhaps he knows what is happening?"
Mr Cotter had been hiding behind the door to the washroom, listening in to the conversation. She had wanted to hide from whoever was talking to the girl she now discovered was Mrs Hastie. She had been embarrased by her rather alarming body change and had not wanted to be caught naked. However now she was fully clothed and decided it was time to announce her presence. In a way she was relieved that the principal shared her predicament. She opened the door and in Ruby's feminine voice announced "I guess that's me" Mr Cotter stepped into the office revealing that she was now dressed in the green dress she had found in Wendy's locker.
The other three sets of eyes in the office as the newest Ruby stepped into the room. She was attired in an elegant cocktail dress and modest heels. With a touch of make-up she would have been ready for a night out.
The Ruby in the school uniform was the first to speak "Mr Cotter?"
"Cotter? What on earth are you wearing?" asked the Ruby in the cheerleader uniform
"Another one!" exclaimed the Ruby in the too big skirt and top.
"My other clothes no longer fit me. Wendy had these in her locker. I had to put something on and my only other choice was a leotard"
"You actually look really nice Mr Cotter. I think that colour suits me" said school uniform Ruby. Mr Cotter guessed that might be the real Ruby.
"Thankyou" Mr Cotter replied. He now guessed correctly that it was Mr Jacobs in the cheerleader uniform. She turned to that girl. "As you can see I changed as well but I don't recall touching any medallions. I think we need to come up with another theory"
