Animalia Magazine: April Auditions Edition

added by makutamon 4 months ago O

The April Issue of Animalia Magazine was called the April Auditions edition because this was the, unofficial, deadline to enroll in summer events such as the 2023 IAC. Nio had just managed to get signed up for the IAC Bodybuilding Competition "at the last moment", but shi had been surprised to learn that there were other herms that were also signed up, and shi'd need to step up her training if she really wanted to stand out from among them.

---

The Cover Article was also about Animalia's other new trend, one that wasn't really tied to conversions: La Lucha. Not only did the article explain what La Lucha meant and how it was different from "American Wrestling", but it also included some previews of the Animalian Version. Of course, Nio signed up for that as well, but got quite the defeat from the head of La Lucha Animalia, El Odio. Fortunately for her, this was just a practice match, and El Odio had been doing this for quite a while. He did task hir to come up with an original costume and stage name before hir first official match, and that was proving tougher than shi thought. Fortunately for hir, her first match wouldn't be for a while.

The next article talked about something rather unexpected: the history of Las Vegas, which was indirectly tied to Lyre before the coming of Animalia. Everyone was surprised to learn that Las Vegas wasn't always the den of vice it was today. In actuality, it started as a key stop on the Union-Pacific Railroad, but almost died out when the railroad left. Fortunately, the commission of the Hoover Dam brought life back to Las Vegas as a place of gambling, alcohol and prostitution, which made it a prime target for members of the Mafia to move in and take over. While it was clear that Shyra had a hand in this article, it was also clear that the only thing she knew was whom not to anger if you wanted to stay alive.

---

The final article contained an event schedule for the 2023 IAC, including some of the more important events, such as the sporting competitions and the comparison between Olympic Athletes and amateur Animalian athletes. There was also a sub-article that covered what had been happening during When Worlds Collide.... It ultimately went like this:

When Sauron was finally defeated, with the unmaking of the One Ring, his spirit had been rejected by the Valar and sealed away. But, with the passing of time, the seal holding Sauron bound ultimately failed allowing his, much weaker, spirit to escape. Since then, he'd been using the Spirit Stones (there was a brief sub-article that talked about the spirit stones/Amrita, both in the Nioh series and in the pseudo-science of alchemy) to not only regain his old strength, but bolster his army of Uruk-hai and Olog-Hai (war trolls) with demons from all over the world to be ready to take over the world.

Of course, people were excited to see something like this, but they didn't really see or know how Animalians would fit into this.
