Ty and Dustin rolled on the floor trying to get their bearings. Both of them panic stricken for a few moments. The more they tried to push off one another to separate themselves, the more merged they became.
“Stop moving,” Ty said. “We are just making things worse the more that we struggle.”
They stopped rolling and laid there on the floor. Ty and Dustin looked down at their bodies. Their chests and torsos were completely stuck together. Their arms were stuck to their sides from rolling around on the floor.
“It is a good thing that you are still wearing your jeans and that I am wearing my underwear,” Ty said. “Otherwise things could be quite a bit worse.”
“What are we going to do now?” Dustin yelled.
“Just calm down Dustin,” Ty said. “This is the time when you have to concentrate on viewing your body as it was before. Then, your body will regain its original shape. Since our legs are not stuck together, concentrate on them first.”
“I don’t understand,” Dustin said. “What is that going to buy us?”
“If we can get our legs back to the original shape and then our arms, between the two of us we should be able to stand.” Ty said. “From there, we can concentrate on getting our chests separated so that we don't get stuck again as we try to stand.”
“What do you mean concentrate?” asked Dustin.
“Picture your arms and legs in your head as they would look as if you saw yourself in the mirror,” said Ty. “With your body being Silly Putty, you have more control of what it looks like than if you were flash and bone. Now, concentrate.”
The two of them laid there not saying anything. Ty’s arms returned to their original shape and then his legs. Since this was his first time restoring his body, Dustin was taking a while longer. Finally, their arms and legs were separated.
“Good,” Ty said. “Now, keep concentrating as we stand so that we can keep our shape. The mind is stronger than the characteristics of the Silly Putty.”
Working as a team, they were able to get to the standing position.
“Now let’s back up from each other a couple of steps and we’ll go from there,” Ty explained.
“But, we’re stuck together,” Dustin exclaimed.
“We are Silly Putty,” Ty said. “We’ll stretch.”
With that, they took two steps away from each other. Their chests and torsos stayed in the same place as their waists stretched to accommodate their movement.
“Let me guess,” said Dustin. “Now we concentrate again.”
“Right,” Ty said. “First concentrate on your torso and work your way up. We should be completely standing when we are done.”
A few minutes later the two of them were separated. They looked at each other and let out a sigh of relief.
“Why did my legs go out from under me when I became Silly Putty and yours didn’t?” asked Dustin.
“When I was changing, I felt my legs changing and thought about keeping them straight,” stated Ty. “You were caught off guard by the transformation.”
“Yea, you did kind of drop a bomb shell on me with that one,” said Dustin.
Ty laughed. “You were enjoying my predicament so much. I thought you should join the fun.”
With that, Ty went and put on his jeans. Dustin went over and stood in front of the mirror. Ty came over and stood beside him.
“That was fun in a weird way,” Dustin said. “What should we try now?
