That interactive story contains shrinking and growing only; no body change, no morphing, no animals, no age regression or progression, etc.
Marc is a natural skeptical 13 years old teen boy. He believes in science and real facts. Magic, is for fools who are easy to impress. For him everything has an explanation. An uncle, of his, Fred, owns a magic shop. He is considered, by Marc family side, to be a good folk story teller using his narrative skills to sell stuff more than anything. Fred likes to see Marc stopping by his shop to try to explains his magic tricks. Yeah he demystified most of them with more or less rapidity.
One day on a sunny Saturday, Marc paid a visit to his intriguing uncle to, again, find an explanation to some more magic trick of his. But that day, Fred has something he was sure his clever nephew won’t be able to explain. He was able to acquire an ancient locket that contains a mysterious stone to shrink or grow anything or anyone.
(Fred) Oh hello Marc, so are you ready to destroy some more of my mysteries?
Marc always giggles when he greets him like that, his tricks are so old an obvious to his point of view.
(Marc) Sure uncle Fred, hit me with your best shot!
So he picks up an old looking gold locket engraved with some like of ancient symbols from under a counter. It’s on a gold chain to make it a nice necklace. Fred opens it and Marc sees a glowing stone. He immediately step back yelling:
(Marc) Are you out of your mind Uncle Fred? The glowing stone is probably radium, it’s extremely radioactive and provoke cancer!
(Fred) Don’t worry, Marc, I know what radioactivity is, and I have made it tested to be sure. A friend of mine has a Geiger Counter, there was none. Besides bananas, Brazil nuts, etc are radioactive, did yo know that?
(Marc) In a matter of fact I know. Those have very little radioactivity. So you say it’s not a radioactive material, so I bet there is a tiny LED and a battery inside then, it’s sure a trick. Unless it’s something phosphorescent?
(Fred) Nope, and nope. The stone is powered by a magic energy source.
(Marc) Common, Uncle Fred, there is no such things as magic. It’s another of your make believe things.
(Fred) Alright Marc, so explains that!, he said with a silly smile
Marc observed his uncle putted the necklace with the locket on around his neck, closed his left hand around it, and pointed a 6 inches height jade elephant carving. He then chanted: “crescere III tempora” In English “Grow 3 times”. Suddenly a blurred blue/green glow enveloped his uncle Fred which then migrated to his finger tip that pointed the jade elephant carving. Suddenly the glows left his uncle to then envelop the carving. It was like he thrown the light. Then, to his astonishment, the elephant grows 3 times it’s original size.
(Marc) What the heck just happened?
Marc was still very skeptical, so he tried to pick up the elephant carving which was definitive heavier. He really saw it growing, but he still imagined it was an illusion, he just haven’t found out yet.
(Fred) Still skeptical Marc? OKAY put it back and watch again, I will restore its original size.
Marc did what he has been asked anad stepped aside. His uncle did the same gesture to then chant: {Horreat vestra normalis magnitudine} Meaning: “Shrink to your normal size”
Same light effect and right before Marc’s eyes, the carving shrunk back to normal.
(Marc) Okay, it seem it’s back to normal. But it’s still maybe a trick, So what about you shrink something that was not in your shop, here!
So Marc shoved his hand in his pocket to take a copper coin he put on the front counter.
(Marc) Okay, so try to shrink that 6 times its size.
His uncle, amused by the fact his nephew was not capable to explain how it worked, did the same thing for the copper coin, but that time he chanted: {horreat VI temporibus} So it actually shrunk. Marc was in chock and a bit upset not able to explain what he witness. Was it magic, nah it’s impossible. But then, his uncle told him something he was not expecting at all.
(Fred) I tell you what Marc, You like to explain everything, right? Still, you cannot explain what yo just saw. So what about I give you the locket with the necklace, so you can experiment with it all you want and try to explain why it’s working?
Marc is totally mystified, and that has not happened for very long time ago. His pride has been scratched and he must find out the science in that thing, to proof it was not magic. So he accepted the gift, but he was a bit bitter though. He uncle handed it to him, he thanked him and he left to go back to his home.
