I know Kevin has trouble remembering stuff. However that he cannot keep a schedule does not mean that mine has to suffer for it. I've been working too hard for my academic career to suffer because of Kevin.
I enter the library. Kevin knows the spot where we will go to study. I put down the textbooks, the papers and the presentation I made. Today we were supposed to go over biology. The human anatomy to be precise. Kevin needs to know this stuff if he is going to pass.
The library was quiet despite the number of students working in it. The relative peace was disturbed when Kevin finally lumbered behind me.
Kevin came close grabbed a chair and sat down. The smell of old books and coffee was quickly replaced by his barnyard scent of bovine sweat. Several students picked up the scent and left, not wanting to put up with it while studying. Why did to go to the gym....
Kevin's chair cracked and bend under his weight. It was a miracle that it did not break entirely.
"Ok are you ready to get started? We only have a little over an hour today because you were late."
"Uh yea. I do not have my books with me."
"Come on Kevin. We do not have time for this. I see that you have a notebook with you and a pen. That should be enough. Let's go. I'll start my presentation. We will review what you learned after I'm done. Please take notes."
"I do know if that is a good idea Ethan."
Kevin looked nervously to his notebook. What know? I do not have time for this.
"Just keep some notes please."

I could not tell Ethan about the notebook. I could also not refuse to take notes. Mroooo why is everything so difficult? I'll guess I will just have to play along. Ethan started his presentation. it is really hard to understand everything he is talking about.
I tried my best to keep up with Ethan's presentation, but my mind kept wandering. It was difficult to concentrate with the smell of coffee and old books mixing with Ethan's voice. I looked down at my notebook and noticed that I had been doodling instead of taking notes.
I quickly tried to jot down some key points, but it was too late. Ethan had already moved on to the next topic. I tried to ask a question, but Ethan looked annoyed and told me to pay attention.
As the hour went on, I found myself struggling more and more to keep up. My mind felt like it was swimming in a sea of information that I just couldn't grasp. I felt like giving up, but I knew that I couldn't let Ethan down.
Finally, the hour was up, and Ethan closed his presentation. "Alright, Kevin, let's review what we covered today."
I looked down at my notebook, but all I saw were random doodles and scribbles too incoherent for the magic to take hold. I felt embarrassed and frustrated. Why couldn't I just remember this stuff?
"I don't remember," I said quietly.
Ethan let out a sigh. "Kevin, we went over this for an hour. How do you not remember anything?"
"I'm sorry, Ethan. I just have a hard time with this stuff," I said, feeling ashamed.
Ethan looked at me for a moment before his expression softened. "It's okay, Kevin. We'll just have to go over it again next time. Maybe we can try a different approach."
I felt relieved and grateful for Ethan's understanding. Maybe there was still hope for me to pass this class after all.
