When Mary returned with news that she had not located the medallion there was silence for a moment while the teenage girls digested their new situation. Kim was smart enough to realise that she needed help. She summoned the courage to call her acquaintance who worked for the FBI.
Kim couldn't convince Agent Ted Dexter that the call was not a hoax. He could not believe for a second that the teenage girl on the line had been the middle aged school principal that he had played basketball with years ago. He only conceded that he would post the report to headquarters to appease the girl and get her off the line. Kim had provided him with the name of the supposedly magical artefact. There was no harm posting it on channels with the qualifier that "I assume this is just a hoax, but does the medallion of Zulo mean anything to anyone"
In Tijuana, Baja California, Agent Cheryl Dwyer, working deep undercover and now known to the world as Melody Mendoza, a woman intimately connected to a drug cartel, saw the post. Her attention was immediately aroused. Several years earlier she and her fiance Matt McIvor, an accountant had gone undercover to get access to the cartel's books. They had used a magical medallion to disguise themselves and inadvertantly Matt had become a young female lawyer. Unfortunatley for them due to an accident the medallion had disappeared leaving the two agents stuck in their disguises.
Now living as Melody Mendoza (her married name had been Jones), stuck in her disguise as the daughter of a cartel boss, Cheryl had fully integrated herself into the organisation and was trying to convert the family business away from drugs and into legitimate business. Upon seeing the post she immediately contacted the former Matt, now known as Amelia Lopez, the pregnant wife of the head of the LA chapter of the cartel.
Matt had found himself stuck as a young attractive blonde lawyer Amelia Bailey when the plane carrying the medallion as well as the original Melody and Amelia had crashed. Amelia had been engaged to Pedro and the bureau had decided that they liked having insiders in the business. Matt had dutifully assumed Amelia's life and had even gone through with the marriage. 2 years after the accident she found herself 5 months pregnant with her first child when she got a call from 'Melody'
"We have a lead as to the whereabouts of the medallion. An incident in a small town in Florida. Can you get to Miami?"
The two women organised to meet in Florida the next morning. Both were able to access private jets thanks to the wealth of the Mendoza cartel.
Ted Dexter was surprised when his post got a almost immediate reply. Two agents would be meeting with him in the morning. Meanwhile he was asked to immediately ascertain the extent of the "Outbreak" and if possible locate and contain the artefact.
Kim was surprised when she got a return call from Ted Dexter. She had just summoned the courage to call her wife and summon her to the school. Likewise the parents of Jake and and Gareth had been asked to attend the school and Julia had rung her husband. Mary had told them at the moment she had no-one who urgently needed to be contacted.
