Ted Dexter was amazed at the story the quintuplet girls told him. Either it was the most elaborate hoax he had ever come across and the girls were brilliant actors or (probably less likely) they were telling the truth and this medallion was the most extraordinary artefact he had ever encountered.
He got a team in to search the school, searching every room any of the girls had been in all day. He sent a female agent to the private hospital where the 6th girl had apparently been taken. That girl's (or boys?) mother went with her, distraught about what she had been told had happened to her son.
The Agent Dwyer who had responded to his question evidently had the highest clearance within the bureau and had authorised all resources be made available to find this artefact. If she was taking this seriously Ted needed to as well. This case could potentially make his career.
Agent Dexter made the decision to keep all of the suspects together overnight. That necessitated finding accommodation for the girls and their families. This was frustrating as there was evidently some farming conference happening in town and all the motels were booked. However the blonde mother, who was a hell of a looker, offered that her house had enough rooms to accommodate all the families as well as Agent Dexter himself. The woman's smile was most persuasive so Ted agreed. The cheerleader girl, who claimed to be the school principal, convinced the vice principal, a woman named Karen to order pizza's as it was past dinner time. Ted was most appreciative that they ordered enough for himself and his crew of searchers.
When the pizza's arrived he called his crew in. So far there had been no sign of this medallion. He decided that the search needed to continue overnight as the school would be overrun with students in the morning. However there was no need for the girls and their families to remain at the school. He organised them to travel to Mrs Fedorov's house. It was evidently the huge mansion by the river. He had admired this house on many occasions and was curious to see it first hand. He had also heard that the home owner had links to the Russian mafia. The woman's surname suggested there was a Russian connection.
He decided to take up the woman's offer of staying there himself. That necessitated ringing home and letting his wife know he would not be returning home tonight. Then he organised a bus to take the families to the mansion. The blonde convinced him to allow her to drive home herself. She evidently owed the Lamborghini out the front.
Agent Dexter stayed at the school until 10pm at which time there had still been no sign of the artefact. His team were convinced they had searched everywhere very thoroughly. He called off the search. His agents at the hospital had told him that the girl there was still sleeping. Supposedly this this girl had been the last to possess the artefact. Ted hoped he would be able to interview her in the morning. He sent his crew home and made his way to the Fedorov house.
