Aria knew better than to try finding a man within the castle. Her father's protectiveness was well known by all within the castle grounds, and anyone caught so much as staring too much ended up joining the ever-growing maid staff. No, she would have to get outside the walls.
Luckily, she knew of a way to leave without being spotted, thanks to her sister, Liira. Her father's least favorite octuplet, and the victim of bullying from many of her sisters, was actually much smarter than they knew. While Aria did not consider herself very close to Liira, she was actually willing to talk to her.
This was why Liira had long ago confided with her about the various ways she sneaked out of the castle to train when the others assumed she was slacking off. Aria had thought it was a foolish risk of Daddy's wrath, but she kind of admired Liira's courage. Now, she found herself driven to similar action by her own long-standing frustration.
Entering the garden shed next to the wall, she found the right floorboard and pulled it up. In the revealed compartment, she found a change of clothes. Peasant rags by Aria's standards, they were much more practical than trying to pass through town wearing a princess gown, and because she and Liira were of similar figure (Liira being only slightly taller), the dress fit her easily. Of course, the dress was purposefully loose to hide her impressive curves, so there was plenty of wiggle room.
Quickly, Aria swapped outfits. Dressing herself was another skill learned from her sister, and the peasant dress had far fewer layers and fasteners than noble outfits, only a sash for her waist. It also had next to no underwear, merely a simple chemise. That would be fine for her purposes. Finally, after bundling her lustrous red hair into a bun, she hid it under a bonnet that also concealed her face.
Thus disguised, she left the shack and hurried over to the western wall. Keeping her head down, she passed a number of servants who ignored her as they went about their own errands. Perfect. Once at the wall, she moved out of sight behind a tree and tapped three times on a particular stone. Instantly, a door-sized portion of the wall faded to leave a tunnel to the outside. Truly, Liira's magic was grossly underestimated, at least to Aria's mind.
The moment she passed through, the stones reappeared, and the wall was solid again.
Sighing happily, the princess in disguise skipped off to find a man.
