While Juan was being disciplined by Mrs McKenzie, the trucker who had told her his name was Oscar, but whose actual name was Kurt, was leaving another truck stop 115 miles away.
He had stopped for a late breakfast and a coffee. While climbing back into his cab he noticed the teenage girl's jacket fallen into the gap between the passenger door and the seat. He wanted to remove all evidence of having met the girl, not because he was feeling guilty about anything he had done, but because he would be arriving home tonight and his wife Susie was the jealous type. He picked up the jacket, it was actually a good quality garment, a shame to throw it in the rubbish but he needed to be rid of it.
Just then he spotted a charity shop adjacent to the truck-stop and outside the shop was a donation bin. Why not? Someone needy might make use of it. Kurt walked the short distance to the bin and went to push the garment into the slot. At the last second he decided to check the pockets, just in case the girl had left a wallet or something personal in them.
He stuck his hand in only to feel an electric shock. Damn! He recoiled as he pulled his hand out. All he found was only an ugly old necklace, just cheap rubbish. It wouldn't be worth anything. He shoved the necklace back into the pocket of the jacket then pushed it into the bin. Satisfied that he had done a good deed for the day, he returned to his truck, started the engine and pulled out. His next planned stop was another two hours up the highway.
