Nikola was still sleeping when the FBI agents arrived the next morning. Other than the so called driver all of his guests were sleeping when he had arrived home late the previous night. The bus driver had checked his identity, which was fair enough. Once Nikola had verified who he was the agent was open about working for the FBI. He even joked about been given "Babysitting duty"
As far as Nikola knew he was not currently under investigation. His organisation worked on the edge of the law, or perhaps slightly over the edge. He certainly did not appreciate the FBI being in his house, but he had to act as a gracious host. He even offered the agent a nightcap (which was declined)
At 6.30 am, Selena shook him awake "I think you had better get up. Two car loads of federal agents have just shown up" Nikola put his silk dressing gown on and followed Selena also in a dressing gown down, to the entrance. Selena introduced him to Agent Ted Dexter, who Nikola had observed through his cameras the previous night. Agent Dexter in turn introduced the two female agents with him "This isAgent Dwyer and Agent Bradbury. They are the experts on our missing medallion.
"Hardly experts. But very interested in locating the artefact" responded the tall Latino, Agent Dwyer. She had an aura of authority about her. Nikola immediately noticed she was wearing designer clothes, she was clearly an important person in the bureau.
He noticed the blonde Agent Bradbury, had a wry smile at Dwyer's comment. She was also expensively dressed. The heels she was wearing would have cost $1000 dollars if not more. Did Nikola also observe a small baby bump? He suspected so. Both women were very attractive.
"And what can we do for you?" Nikola asked.
Agent Dexter spoke "We are very grateful for your hospitality Mr and Mrs Fedorov. Agent Bradbury would like to interview each of the people who have had interactions with the artefact. We believe most of them have stayed here last night"
"Yes. That is fine. You could make use of the lounge. Or if you need privacy there is an office through that door" Nikola had hidden camera's in both rooms. He would listen in on the interviews.
"We are most grateful. Now Mrs Fedorov, we need to ask you another favour. The doctors at the hospital where" he consulted his notes "Gareth Jones, is staying. They are refusing to release her. We want to minimise the number of people who know about this artefact and Gareth was admitted under the name of Ruby Donaldson, your daughter. We need you to sign her release forms and bring her here"
"What about Gareth's mother? Didn't she go to the hospital last night?"
"All was fine until this morning. We believe your ex-husband is very protective of his former step daughter and is creating difficulties"
"Yes I understand. I am happy to help you. Can I ask though? Has the medallion shown up?" asked Selena
"We have leads. But in answer to your question. Currently not"
"Oh.... I'll need to get dressed"
"That's fine. Perhaps we can meet the victims?" Agent Dwyer asked.
"I'll summon everyone" said Selena
"No you get dressed. Have your man collect all the guests" the tall woman told Agent Dexter. Nikola noticed she had a Mexican accent
Kurt the bus driver/agent immediately went about knocking on the doors and asked all the guests to meet in the lounge.
Over the next 10 minutes all the guests assembled. They had hurriedly dressed in the clothes they had worn the previous night.
