Coach Sinclair returned to the athletic building to retrieve his glasses. He had been doing inventory earlier, and left them with the clipboard in the storage room. He was surprised to see the new tackle dummy lying on the store room floor next to a roll of duct tape. Then he saw the holes in the silver head and crotch. He picked Chad up, and examined the backside.
He shook his head, and said, "Boys will be boys. Looks like Ty was going to fix you with tape. What's needed is Bondo to make nice smooth holes. The duct tape will keep tackle dummy Chad decent while it's out on the field, and the smoothed holes will avoid further damage to it in the locker room." He examined the tackle dummy carefully. Then he put it under his arm, and unknowingly carried his former star quarterback out to his pickup truck, and unceremoniously tossed it in the bed of the truck.
In the meantime, Ty had discovered Chad was missing. His greatest fear was that Chad had broken his spell. But he told himself it was impossible. He checked the building access logs, and was confounded. No one entered or exited according to the computer. He forgot that the head coach had a private entrance to his office that did not have sensors on that door.
The coach's truck was halfway home before Ty bothered to check the parking lot. Coach had gone out the main door, before returning and exiting again through his private entrance, so Ty had no idea that the coach had returned, and taken Chad.
