Connor sighed, taking a swig of water the group paused in their search. While the teens had covered a significant portion of the woods already, they appeared no closer to finding Chenoa's family. "How long have we been out here," Amara groaned."
"Couple hours."
"And how much ground have we covered Connor," Miranda asked. Connor glanced at the GPS on his cellphone, a small frown forming on his face. "Couple of miles." A collective groaned now emanated from his friends. The search through the woods was proving to be arduous for Connors friends. While they were willing to help Chrnoa, aside from Connor and Spark, they had no real experience in tracking missing persons.
"Are we any closer to finding Chenoa's family," Miles asked. Connor knelt down, the trail he was following was old, perhaps 6 or 7 hours. While the tracks were promising, he wasn't quite sure which direction to go in. "I'm not quite sure,: he said softly. "The trail is a bit cold and I can't tell what direction they may have gone."
"So what are you thinking," Miles asked. Connor glanced at Spark, the teenage fairy seeming to understand what her boyfriend was thinking. "Aerial Recon," Spark smirked. Connor nodded, Spark giving hints a quick peck on the cheek.
Shrinking down quickly, Spark assumed fairy form. The teens skin taking on a green hue as gossamer wings sprouted from her back. Soaring above the trees, she now scanned the woods trying to get an idea on where to go. "Wait," she thought. "What the hell is that?"
Sparks attention was now drawn to a small blinking light about 100 yards from where the group was. Watching the light, she noted that it appeared to be moving erratically amongst the trees. Quickly, flying back to the others, Spark once more grew to human form before gazing at her friends. "Hey I saw something," she exclaimed. "Or rather someone." The others now glanced nervously at one another as Spark and Connor took the lead, the young hunters enchanted armor now inching over his body as they moved forward.
Spark paused, raising her hand as she narrowed her eyes as she peered into the woods. She recognized that light but it couldn't be. "What is it Spark," Miranda asked nervously. "What do you see?" Spark frowned, the teen slowly standing as she glared into the woods. "Calista is that you?"
The others now curiously looked to where Spark was looking, unsure of what to make of what their friend was saying. Gasping they watched as a small blue light sailed out of the woods. The light hovering in front of the teens before growing into a young woman with long blue hair. "Spark is that you?"
"Yeah Calista it's me," Spark sighed. "What the hell are you doing out here?"
Calista smiled, hugging the teen tightly. "Oh cmon Spark it's been years since we've seen eachother," she said. "I want to know how you're doing. Are you still working with the Morelands?"
"Um Spark who is this," Amara asked.
"Calista," Spark sighed. "An old friend of mine from school. Now you want to tell me what you're doing here?"
"I'm sorry school friend," Connor exclaimed. Calista nodded, a small chuckle escaping her lips as she looked over the group of teens. "Spark and I grew up together," she said. "She was always my main competition, her and I were always one and two in everything."
"Yeah yeah yeah," Spark grumbled. "We can take the trip down memory lane later. What are you doing in the middle of the woods?" Calista paused, glancing over at Chenoa before smiling. "Looks like I'm doing the same thing as you," she said. "I've been working with the shaman of the local tribe. She's a friend of Chenoa's parents and we hadn't heard from them in the past few days. So, I was asked to conduct an official search."
"Official search," Spark scoffed. "Ugh I swear Calista you always sound like such an apple polisher. Also what are you doing in the human world?"
"Would you believe I got married," she blushed. "Too a human, even had a child." Calista now reached behind her, displaying a picture of a human man and a infant girl. "Shut up," Spark exclaimed. "A husband AND a kid!?" Spark glanced closer, tilting her head. "Um he doesn't look Native American Calista."
"He isn't," Calista giggled. "He's sn oceanographer. Actually he works in Mystic."
"And the whole fairy thing? He's cool with it?"
"Well it was a bit of a shock," Calista blushed. "But, he accepted. We're doing amazingly well but, he understands I still have a job to do." The young woman now paused, glancing past Spark as she now studied Connor. "Speaking of accepting you want to tell me about that one?"
"Um no not really," Spark said quickly, her cheeks turning crimson. "Purely professional."
"Yeah right," Calista laughed. "I guess that's why you look ready for Drivers Ed." Spark said nothing, furrowing her brow at Calista. "Look we can talk about it later Calista right now we gotta find Chenoa's parents. You find anything?"
"Nothing yet but a couple of good leads," she replied. Spark simply nodded, glancing back towards Chenoa before speaking. "Well keep us informed okay." Calista nodded, giving Spark a small nod before smiling. "Stay out of trouble Spark."
Spark grumbled, watching the woman shrink down into a tiny blue fairy before sailing off into the woods. "So who was that," Connor asked.
"Calista," Spark sighed. "An old friend and a pain in my ass. We were close in school despite being total opposites. All the teachers loved her."
"And you?"
"Yeah not so much," Spark smirked. "Even back then I was a badass. Still, looks like we got some help looking for Chenoa's parents. Let's just hope no one else is looking."
