Steph read through the many options for Monk subclasses first. The base Monk seemed similar to a normal 5th edition dnd game. They had a resource called Ki that allowed them to do things like attack more often, stun enemies, dodge or make another move action. They also had the fastest movement of all the classes. With the monk being pretty much the same, Steph turned to the subclasses.
The Change Reflector allowed the monk to spend their Ki to redirect a change spell aimed at them to someone else in range, or temporarily grant one of their changes to an ally. Steph seriously considered this one, but looked to the others before making a decision.
The standard 5e subclasses were also present in the rulebook, and there was one more new subclass: The Way of Change. This subclass allowed the monk to cause a random transformation on the target of their unarmed strikes, and the Monk gained an advantage against the target until they had adapted to fight with the change, which happened in 1-6 rounds.
