It had been a day of highs and lows for Claudia. One moment she and her wife were enjoying a carefree day in New York City. The next moment, she found herself near hysterics when she returned home and heard a name she had tried to forget over thw last 3 years.
Returning home she was happy to hear the kids had behaved for Nat and Rei. What she wasn't expecting was the babysitters to tell her about Sarah McMillan and DHS asking questions about Alec Dyson. A quick call to her brother Cole only confirmed her fears, bringing the young mother to the front door of the Moreland home. As Jacob now answered, Claudia gazed at the hunter. "We need to talk!"
Jacob nodded, inviting both Cole and Claudia inside. As they entered, Claudia could already see her sister Julia and her new husband. Apparently DHS had visited them as well. "You too," Claudia asked, to which Julia nodded. "Anybody know why they decided to come?"
"We've been trying to figure that out," Julia said softly. "The guy I spoke with asked a bunch of questions about dad and Alec Dyson. I didn't know much."
"Yeah same thing happened to me," Cole grumbled. "In my case though he wanted to know what I knew about Dyson."
"And what did you say," Claudia asked.
"Not the truth," Cole grumbled. "Been trying to forget about that asshole. Dude tried to break me for six months. Not to mention him trying to take Yuki. The whole thing still pisses me off. Guy was rogue for sure."
"Do you think they know what he did," Julia asked. Cole sighed, rubbing the exhaustion out if his eyes. "From what I can tell they had no clue," he said. "If they did we wouldn't be sitting here. We'd be in jail for murder."
"Yesh that was part of the spell," Claudia replied. "No one remembers what really happened and that's the shitty part. Dyson crossed the line, he almost killed Cole, Yuki, even Aaron."
"Your son," Jacob asked. "What happened to him?"
Claudia shuddered, the image of her future son nearly being torn to pieces still fresh in her mind. "We mounted a rescue," she said softly. "Trying to save Cole and the others. Dyson had kidnapped them, tortured them. The people he was working with had these....things acting as bodyguards. Aaron, well future Aaron, he got jumped.." Claudia paused, her eyes beginning to fill with tears at the memories. She felt close to a panic attack, her breathing shallow as magical flames began to dance along her arms.
"I was there," she growled. "I saw what happened. Aaron, my little boy was gutted like a fish. The fear! The fear in his eyes as he lay whimpering, scared to death! And I couldn't do anything more than try and comfort him." Claudia sniffed, wiping her eyes as she now glared at everyone in the room.
"I'm going to kill them," she growled. "I don't fucking care what happens! I'm not letting them hurt my son AGAIN!"
"Whoa hold on," Cole exclaimed. "We can't just kill them chipmunk!"
"Why not," Claudia exclaimed. "After everything Dyson did to you! What if they want to finish the job? What if they come after the kids again?"
"We don't know what they want Claudia," Julia stated. "And do you really think that by killing them will make the problem go away? Think for a second, if they go missing what's stopping others from coming?" The siblings now paused, turning to Jacob who had listened carefully to what was being said. "What do you think Jacob," they asked.
"We have to be careful," he said softly. "That spell that yall cast blanked everybody's minds but, there are people that remember Dyson."
"Well I'm meeting with this woman tomorrow and I'm 50/50 on roasting her like a marshmallow!"
Jacob paused, looking over the petite blond sorceress. She was scared, which was something he wasn't accustomed to. From what he had seen of the woman she was hot tempered and fearless. That the idea of her children being harmed had shaken her so much needed a gentle touch. "I think I got an idea," he said. "But I'm going to need Ricks help and Claudia, I need to know if you'd be willing to wear a wire."
"What do you have in mind," Cole asked.
"Claudia meets with this woman," Jacob stated. "We try to figure out what she wants. If it starts to get dicey we move in." The Harris siblings glanced at one another, nodding before looking to Jacob. "And I'll be there to help if it goes sideways," he added. "Hoping Cole and Rick will be with me on this little stakeout. If it goes poorly we move in, take her, and start asking alot of questions."
"Thank you Jacob," Claudia sighed in relief. "I appreciate you willing to help us out."
"No problem at all," he smiled. "Julia's family now and I don't want anything to happen to my new niece or her mother."
"So should we tell Connor and Spark or even Caleb about what's going on," Claudia asked.
"Caleb's still at college and Connor and Spark are helping out a Deer girl find her parents right now."
"A Deer Girl," Claudia asked in confusion, to which Jacob nodded. "Yeah a Deer Girl," he said. "She also happens to be the goddaughter of Goldilocks and Baby Bear."
"Come again?"
"Long story," Jacob smirked. "I fill ya in on the details later. Right now I need Rick to come up with a wire to fix you up with. When you meet this Sarah McMillan tomorrow, we're going to find out what exactly she knows."
