Reading the sentence, Jessica's anger only doubled.
"A movie! That little jerk is skipping my show for a movie!?" She blurted out before she could stop herself. A few passing models glanced over in mild amusement, well aware of her lopsided relationship. They had warned her about this many times, but only now did she realize how right they had been. How could she have been so stupid?
Even Will's tastes in movies should have raised red flags. She never understood why he liked those B-rated horror flicks with their overdone gore, unlikeable casts of characters who made stupid decisions, and hysterical oversexualized girls dressed in skimpy outfits... Okay, maybe it wasn't so hard to figure out.
"Well, I've had it, Will. If you like those movies more than me, why not live the dream?" Jessica muttered, a devious glint entering her eyes.
Selecting "watches," she changed it to "films." (This man films a movie and will soon go to the fashion mall.)
Back at the theater, Will sat mesmerized by the scene unfolding on the big screen. The movie's heroine, a rather sexy brunette, had been cornered in a room by the slasher. This was the big moment, the final showdown. Who would come out of this alive, the girl or the killer? As these movies went, it could go either way, and Will loved that aspect of it.
Suddenly, in a classic jump-scare, the slasher leapt from the shadows, brandishing his bloody ax. The heroine screamed.
FLASH
"EEEEEEEEEEK!"
Perfect, thought Will as he followed the girl around the room with his camera, trying to capture every terrified expression. This little project was going to turn out great! It helped that his lead actress, Tanya, was a natural: charismatic, intense, and of course, sexy even when splattered with dirt and fake blood. The perfect scream queen.
When he had approached Tanya, who shared one of his classes, asking if she would like to star in his amateur horror movie, he had his doubts she would agree. To his amazement, she had eagerly accepted, saying she always wanted to be an actress. There had certainly been many lucky breaks throughout this project, but recruiting Tanya was by far the luckiest.
