It was difficult to spot, but your new elven eyesight was able to pick out the elven city. Even large elven cities were built to meld into the surrounding woodland. Though the palace was hard to see from a distance, it was still impressive. The leaves of the trees it was built into were beginning to turn to yellow as autumn approached, and the magic of the palace changed it to mirror the trees around them.
"We're nearly there, Elenara," Ty said, just as Elenara, now fully dressed, stepped out of the passenger area of the carriage to sit next to him.
"I'll sit with you here," said Elenara "This will take some explaining, but please leave the talking to me."
"I'll remain as quiet as I can," said Ty "This is your culture, after all. You'll have to help me quite a lot for at least the first little while in your city."
The carriage came up to a wooden gate that looked like an area of dense forest. The doors opened, and four guards exited, looks of confusion on their face.
"Princess Elenara?" one of them said, not sure which of them to address.
"That would be me," Elenara said, and the guards bowed to her "My friend here was involved in a magical accident on the road. Until we can figure out how to fix it, I have taken her under my wing. Can you send a messenger ahead to the palace to tell my mother I have returned?"
"Yes, Oak Princess," one of the guards said, then gave a few orders to one of the others, who ran off up one of the winding paths between the trees, vanishing almost immediately.
