Anne led the two adventurers to one of the fanciest restaurants in town, hanging off the large half-orc's arm, while her tail wrapped around the slim human girl's waist, touching her exposed skin. Anne could see the pretty human girl flushing, but managing to hide it well due to a high bluff roll. For a moment, Ty realised what he was doing, but was overwhelmed by the sensations of Anne's body, and by the time he had his thoughts in order, Anne was back in control, and confused about her thoughts.
"Is something wrong?" Erica asked, looking over at her
"Nothing," Anne said "Just got distracted for a moment."
The group entered the restaurant. It was on the bank of a river, and they were led to a table near the window, where they could see the moon and starlight playing across the dark water, as if the goddesses Selune and Astraea were playing across the water.
"This is really nice," said Erica, as Aaron pulled out a seat for her first, and then Anne. The chairs in here were not designed to accommodate her tails, so she sat forward to avoid crushing them against the back.
"It's one of the best restaurants in town," said Anne "Sadly, it's not seen a lot of business since the necromancer moved into the surrounding area. A lot of merchants came into town for market day. When we heard about the necromancer, many of them have bought an extended stay at the tavern."
"It's not ideal for business, then," said Aaron, trying to maintain a conversation while Anne's position gave him a view down her chest.
"It's a wonder this place is still open," Erica said
"I think it's because they're helping out with organizing the hunters to continue to provide food for the town," Anne said "The daughter of the owner just came back from the academy. She majored in Divination, so she is able to predict with some accuracy where the minions of the necromancer will be on any particular day. In exchange, the hunters offer them discounts on the things they hunt. It's a good arrangement, but the hunting spots are getting smaller. If the necromancer isn't stopped soon, the town will be unable to get food."
Anne paused. "Freya above, I didn't mean to be such a downer."
"It's no trouble," said Aaron "And maybe we can help. We are adventurers, after all. I won't make any promises until we've talked to Steph, and we still don't know where Ty is, but I certainly want to help with your necromancer problem."
"I hope you decide to help," Anne forced a smile, as a waitress arrived at the table "Maria? I haven't seen you working here for a long time. How was university?"
The girl was around 17 or 18. She had the same proportions as a human, but had bat-like wings, and curved horns. Her skin was metallic gold in colour. Putting her clipboard down on the table, she leaned down to give Anne a hug, before straightening up and handing out a menu to each of the people at the table as she answered Anne's question.
"It was amazing. I learned so much about magic and how it affects our world," Maria explained "I'm scared of what's out there with the necromancer around, but I'm glad I can help in my own way."
"We all do the best we can with what we have," Anne said "That's all we can do. And it's enough. What you're doing for the hunters is keeping this town alive."
Anne looked down at her menu.
"I'll have the salad, and a moon-touched mead, please," she said
"Bear Steak Supper for me," Aaron said "And the Brightdale Ale."
"I'll have the same as Anne," Erica said
