As we walked Mariah filled me in on what had while I was out. "Brad ended up getting his wish. He swapped with a 17 year old boy. His new body was more physically fit than your's so he woke up first even though he swapped after you. They wanted to do a series of motor, and cognitive function tests. Since Brad's new body has a more developed brain so they wanted to know how he would function."
Imagining a four year old in an adult body, I realized that it could be similar to being mentally handicapped. "How did he do?" I was a bit nervous. Not only was he years older, he didn't have time to adjust to his body and the expectations.
"Surprisingly well. He speech patterns improved. He needed to be corrected at first but his lisp is gone and he can speak well. His hand eye coordination is also great. Apparently his body was an athlete. His comprehension seems to be on the proper level for his new age but he hasn't suddenly gotten the knowledge he is supposed to have."
"That will make school difficult." I told her. I was imagining a high-school boy sitting in pre-school. Then again he'd probably be old by the time he got out of high-school.
"They have a special program here that Brad will be apart of. For most of the lower level things he should be able to learn quicker. They are hoping to get him caught up in a few years."
Speaking of school, I realized that I would now have to go to school as an eleven year old girl. That would stand out. Would people know about the swap or would I have to lie about who I am?"
Then again if Brad's new body gave him a more developed brain that meant mine was less developed. Did that mean I would be less mature or would I straight up forget things like algebra, no longer able to understand it? I realized that was probably apart of what they wanted to find out. There was probably a group being tested for just that. Maybe whoever had Brad's body was going to take those tests when he woke up. The only reason I wasn't doing a test now was probably because my therapist was more concerned about how puberty affected me, and not the change of cognitive skills.
We finally got to the room where Brad was being held, and Mariah held up a hand. "Wait! I'm going to introduce you."
"Introduce me?" I asked. "This the family, they know me."
"Lucas and Brad haven't seen you yet. I don't think either of them know your a girl either."
"How do you know and not Lucas?"
Mariah shrugged. "Lucas has been really disinterested with this. He only went to Brad's room because he was awake." She smiled. "Did you pick out a new name?"
"I really didn't have time. They said I would be a little girl, stuck me in a machine and next thing I know I'm talking to you."
"Okay, then I'm going to introduce you by your body's old name. They said it was Hailey by the way."
I waited outside listening to Mariah showboat my entrance. "Hello Fam! You may have seen David before, but not like this! The new baby of the family, my favorite little sister and your's," she stressed the word sister which probably got my brothers' attention. "The one, the only, Hailey!"
I took the que and stomped in annoyed. I'm sure whatever scowl I had was a ruined by my age. I probably looked like an adorable pouting kid.
Lucas laughed. Brad just smiled. "So your David? How do you like being little again?"
"I hate it."
"Well too bad you can't grow up as fast as me." He flexed and I realized he was now one of the muscular boys I saw in the waiting room. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and built for sports. I would be lying if I didn't say that was the body I had wanted to swap with. "You have to do it the long way. Again."
Lucas continued to laugh as mom walked over to me. She started messing with my hair, probably fixing whatever tangles it had gotten while I was asleep. "So, do you want to be called Hailey now?" She asked.
I shrugged. "Not really. Mariah just used my body's old name for her stupid joke."
Dad was the next to speak. "Morning kiddo. I like your shirt."
I remembered my shirt said Daddy's girl. I wonder if Hailey really was one or if she just wanted to prank whoever ended up in her body. She seemed mischievous. "I'm sure you would." My stomach growled reminding me that this body probably skipped breakfast like my old one. "Can we eat?" I asked.
"In a moment. " dad told me. He quickly turned towards my brother. "Lucas, stop laughing. This could have easily been you." He then stood where he could see the whole family. "I just want to make sure we know what we are going to do now that the swap is finished."
