...statues. She had been making a front yard garden for her mom so a centerpiece would be perfect. eventually, she found one that was just right for her. it was of a male kitsune in sorcerer clothing. his clear crystal blue eyes looking at a book he held in both hands.
his 9 tails hanging over the podium he was sitting on. "now how do I get you home" she said. suddenly a man was behind her. "ah! you'd like the kitsune sorcerer, very well." he said making her jump. "sorry my dear did I frighten you?" he said.
"no sorry I was just startled. yes I would like this" she said after calming down. "then I have it shipped to your house today. follow me" he said as he headed in a seemingly random direction. Sarah did this and she soon found herself at the counter. "what? but we... how?" she fumbled her words as she knew this was not in the direction she came from.
"oh my dear this place can turn you around something fierce." he said as he picked up a clipboard. "here just put the address here and it'll be there by 5:00 sharp". she was shocked that it would arrive quickly. she wrote the address down and paid for it. again she was shocked by the price this time.
the thing was 50 dollars. that was the price of her shoes. after paying for the obsidian statue she headed for the entrance. She was back on her way to the food court. feeling something was off she turned around. she just saw the blank wall behind the photo booth she used.
the strangeness eventually went away. she had until 5 o'clock before she needed to be home. she couldn't remember why but she needed to be home by then. back at the store, the man grinned. "ha! a two for one. not to mention they were sisters." he said as his form changed.
he now looked like the very kitsune statue Sarah had just purchased made flesh. "gotta remember to make another stone statue of myself later" he said as his 9 tails gained blue flames above them. with a flash of light, he was in a new location. glancing outside he had replaced an outside bathroom with his storefront. "now I just wait till someone walks in" the trickster changed back into his disguise.
