Watching the adult turned tween boy go off to play with Mina, Shannon could only feel a bit of pain of jealousy. Despite the sudden twist and turns everything had worked out well with the two new additions. Mary was off playing with her new pack sisters who were showing her all the excitement being a wolf could bring. All Shannon had to do was sit and worry about the hunters that stalked the forest, the adults who unknowingly worked for the bear pack that were trying to kill her packmates on sight. She had warned Kaida and Mina to keep a watchful ear out but being so close to Anna's home she hoped the hunters would not get too close to the neighborhoods out of fear of shooting a neighbor's dog.
"Everyone, ten more minutes and then head home, it's a school night!" She called out. after a few groans and yips she turned tail and headed off into the forest, her walk turning into a sprint, turning into a full out four legged run.
There was one thing she had not brought up with the other girls yet, the teacher that had approached her just before school ended the day before, a were that was part of a flock of birds, they could be allies or enemies, which only compounded the stress on her. She was the Alpha and the decision maker, she just had to make the right decisions or else they could all be killed.
Her heart fluttered as she picked up Noah's scent, she easily side stepped a poorly disguised bear trap and went up to the wooden ladder he was perched on, gripping it with her muzzle and giving it a good playful shake. The boy cried out and grabbed on for dear life before glancing down and sighing, Shannon gave a quick smile and wagged her tail, making sure to keep on all fours as he descended the ladder and sat down next to her. "Boy, what are you doing out here? Do you have a death wish?" He gave her a quick scratch under the ears as Shannon grumbled slightly at the boy comment.
Shannon sighed and leaned into his touch, her tongue hanging out slightly as she closed her eyes. She just wanted to share a moment away from the pack, it was stupid and dangerous, but she was allowed to have those moments too! She whimpered slightly as Noah continued to run his fingers over her ears and down the back of her head. "I don't know why I am out here, my Dad says it will make me a man if I kill a wolf, but I don't want to kill anything, I just want to play games and hang out with my friends."
A long silence settled in between the two of them, somewhere an owl hooted, Noah's hands drifted down Shannon's furry side with out thinking, coming close to her furry breasts, as the hand crossed her ribs she bolted up in shock and let out a very human like cry in embarrassment, standing on two legs and covering her chest with her arms. "I'm sorry this was a mistake." Her face flushed red under her fur as she turned to leave, as Noah stood up awe struck.
"Wait! St.." His voice was cut off by the ear splitting sound of a gunshot, it pierced the air and struck Shannon on her left arm sending blood and fur into the air and the girl crumpling to the ground. "NO!" Noah screamed at the top of his lungs, racing to the fallen wolf girl. blood matted her fur around her shoulder.
Shannon twisted and turned on the ground, her left arm felt limp and useless, a burning pain radiated across her shoulder as if something had taken a bite out of her. She could still see stars and everything around her seemed to be double, but when she turned to look at her shoulder, her stomach lurched, she could see right through the hole, and it was sizzling, there were small traces of silver in the wound that was burning the muscle inside the wound. Another shot rang out, missing her head by inches and kicking up dirt and mud everywhere.
"I have to get you out of here!" Noah tugged on her good paw, trying to lift her up, Shannon kicked her back legs fruitlessly trying to gain traction, her eyes beginning to droop. "I don't even know where to go."
She leaned on him, placing her weight on him as blood began to run down the left side of her body. "7933 Kendra Lane... its my packmates house." Her head began to drop, her legs feeling heavy. "7933 Kendr..." She repeated over and over the last thing she felt was the ground beneath her paws turning to concrete and the silver burning away at the muscles in her shoulder before sleep finally overtook her.
