The bird doctor stopped her short of finishing dialing. "Hold a moment please." he said, letting out a soft caw. He sighed and moved to sit on a chair opposite her, taking her paws in his gnarled bird talon hands. "How old are you child?"
"Almost 12," she said. "Why?"
He shook his head, "Mmm, natural lycanthropy in one your age, even younger, is very uncommon. Are your parents lycans?"
She shook her head, "No. I just...woke up one day and was like this."
"I see, perhaps it does not matter or will become clear in time. But you must understand, your actions had consequences. You roused the anger of rival lycans, and humans. My flock fears such."
"Then why did you help me?" She asked.
"Because you are still just a child...." he lifted his beak to try to give the impression of a smile. "An innocent. Even if others do not see it, I do. And because this other one's love for you touched my heart. There may be still a way to help your pack, but it will not be easy...."
She nodded eagerly, "Please!"
